Caleb Long. I can get married tomorrow for all you care!”
I turned to Caleb and said calmly, “Evie divorced you. The best ex–husband is one who might as well be dead. Never disturb her life again, you hear?”
My words were not directed to Caleb alone. Julian understood as well, and he lowered his gaze, apologizing softly. “Sorry, I’ll buy you a brand new car.”
I did not refuse this time. They were brothers, so it was all the same who paid up for the compensation.
After that, I left with Evie. Caleb tried to give chase, but Julian stopped him.
“Let me go, Julian! Let go of me!” Caleb struggled with all his strength, screaming, “Evie, I’m begging you! Just turn around and look at me, just once!”

I knew why Caleb was reacting so strongly. He always assumed Evie was just putting on a show, that she did not really want to leave him. Now that he had seen her with someone else, reality finally set in. He finally understood he had lost her for good, which was why he was so upset.
Men were the worst. They never appreciated what they had until it was gone.
No matter how he yelled and wept, Evie never turned to look at him. Neither did I.
To us, both of them were in the past now.
Evie had a lot of connections in upper society, and they loved my designs. Our studio soon made a name for itself, orders started flowing in, and we raked in the cash.
Evie and I were both swamped with work. As the number in our bank account steadily rose, we were filled with a sense of accomplishment.
Before this, our minds were fully trained on our husbands. We barely even thought of our jobs, much less building our own business empire. Now, we realized that men were useless. Our career was where it was at! With money and fame to our name, we could do whatever we wanted!
