Chapter 18 Encounter in the Unexpected 

Sarah’s POV 

George hit me up and told me to be at the hospital before 10 am. sharp I rolled in, parked my car, and started heading towards the 

entrance. 

I knew mornings were crazy busy with doctors doing their rounds. After 10, things would chill out a bit, and I could say hi to everyone and introduce myself without the rush. 

But as I walked from the parking lot to the hospital entrance, something fell off. 

There was a bunch of people in white coats hanging out on the steps, chatting in little groups. George and my soon–to–be boss Hank were there too. 

Weird. Hank was usually swamped, and George hated all that socializing stuff. Why were they both just standing around? 

I saw George checking his watch, looking kinda stressed, while Hank had this serious look, hands behind his back, not saying a word. 

Were they waiting for someone important? Had to be a big deal. 

I tried to sneak up the side of the steps without drawing attention. No way they were waiting for me. 

But George spotted me and called out, “Sarah, perfect timing! Come join us.” 

“Join you for what?” 

George smacked his forehead. “Oops, forgot to tell you. Today’s the first day our new president starts.” 

I stuck my tongue out a bit. Lucky me, starting the same day as the net president. 

“Dr. Wilson, I’m just an intern. This isn’t really my scene. I’ll go check with HR and handle some paperwork,” I said. 

George explained, “Oh, the HR director and manager are both here. Good luck finding anyone inside right now. Chill out. None of us have met the new president. Aren’t you curious?” 

I thought, “Why would I be curious? I never even met the old president Plus, as an intern, I might go a whole year without bumping into

the president.‘ I forced a nervous smile, just eager to sneak into the outpatient building and find a quiet spot to lay low. 

Hank turned to me, “Come meet a few colleagues. This is Steve Morgan, and this is Zoe Browne. You’ll see them every day. Sarah Davis, our new intern in Cardiac Surgery Unit One.” 

A guy and a girl, both doctors in their thirties, shook my hand warmly. Ismiled back and made some small talk. 

This is Olivia Johnson. She was an intern like you a year ago and now she’s one of our residents.” 

A young red–haired doctor behind Hank grinned at me. “Hey, Sarah. Looking forward to working with you! New to LA? If you need a tour guide, I can show you around this weekend. And if you’re single like me, we can hit up a bar after work. Haha.” 

Olivia was 

was super enthusiastic, but I felt a bit awkward. 

“Sure, no problem,” I said as politely as I could without overdoing it. 

“Oh, is that the president’s car? Check out that super long luxury sedan Olivia practically squealed.

Chapter 18 Encounter in the Unexpected 

Everyone stopped chatting and turned to look at the black stretch lindarked by the curb. Two bodyguards stepped out, then opened the door facing the hospital. A tall, well–built guy emerged. 

From where I was standing, one of the bodyguards blocked my view. I guely heard a female colleague whisper, “He is so damned Handsome.” 

A male voice chimed in, “Yeah, and damned young for a president.” 

“Look at those strong chest muscles under his sitt. I really want to try by scalpel on him.”

I mean you want to try your hands on him.” 

A low chuckle rippled through the crowd. George turned around and gave everyone a stem look. “Quiet!” 

1 finally stifled my smile and turned my head forward, locking eyes will pair of sharp blue eyes. My eyes widened immediately, and I quickly covered my mouth with my hand to avoid crying out in alarm. 

How could it be him? Federica! 

Was I hallucinating? Was I dreaming? I bit my lip hard, wincing in pain. 

I thought. Get a grip, Sarah. Stay calm. You need to think clearly‘ 

Time seemed to stand still, and everything around me disappeared. 

I looked around. Yep, this was LA Premier Cardiac Care Hospital. Today was my first day at work, I was here to start my job. Everything 

was fine. 

But how could the new president of the hospital be Federico?! This was on bizarre. 

1 shivered, snapping back to reality, and my ears were suddenly filled with noise. 

George and Hank had already introduced themselves to Federica. They were now introducing him to the other colleagues, who were warmly welcoming him. Federico was politely responding to everyone. 

I sighed. What kind of fate was this? I met him again? And it seemed like I wouldn’t be able to avoid him in my work.

Damned Federica! So he knew back then. Was he secretly laughing at me? 

I could only pray again, hoping he wouldn’t pay too much attention to my work, preferably never running into him in the hospital building. 

Although, I knew that was impossible. 

The crowd gradually moved towards the lobby. No one noticed me, 

I could easily slip away while everyone was distracted. Then, after Fedecco left, I could find George to apply for entry clearance. This plan was perfect. 

Suddenly, I heard a loud and deep male voice echoing in the lobby. “Hey there, I haven’t met you yet, right?” 

Everyone’s eyes turned to me. As the only one not wearing a white coat, stood out like a sore thumb.
