Seduction of my Mafia Stepbrother
Chapter 21 I Had to Get in His Car
Sarah’s POV
So, I took a wrong turn in the hospital and, ham, ran smack Into Feder, Seriously, has this guy been stalking me? I’d rather chalk it up to dumb luck.
He started grilling me about whether I really had a boyfriend, and I noted his eyes were all bloodshot. Weirdly enough, it kinda thrilled me! A hotshot CEO getting all worked up ‘cause he thought I was taken
I mentally slapped myself. Get it together, Sarali. Focus on your job. The main goal right now is to nail this internship and become a full- fledged resident doctor. Remember your crappy flnuncial situation; you feed the cush
I straightened my clothes, opened the door, and stepped out of the stairwell. Suddenly, a mass of red hair bounced in front of me. “Hey Sarah, what are you doing here?”
“I’m not too familiar with the layout and got lost. Where are you headed? I said, trying to sound casual but couldn’t help frowning.
Why do I keep running into Olivia? Is she stalking me too?” I thought.
“The lab’s just ahead; I’m checking on a patient’s test results, Olivia replied.
She then gave
e me a sly look and pointed. “No way. Your cheeks are all rod, like… you were just having a secret rendezvous!”
I was startled and then put on a serious face. “Olivia, I’m sorry, but I don’t appreciate those kinds of jokes. Let’s keep it professional at
work.”
She shrugged. There are plenty of sex jokes in surgery. You haven’t heard the male doctors yet; they’re funnier than pay–per–view TV. Anyway, I gotta get to the lab. But, why do I feel like that guy in the suit over there looks a lot like our new CEO, Mr. Caposta?”
I shivered inside and followed her finger to see a tall, blurry figure in the distance.
“Olivia, I need to go. See you later,” I said coldly and walked away quickly.
I pulled two back–to–back night shifts. The on–call room was just too comfy.
It was not just a rest room with a bed; it had a big sofa, a massage chair even a private shower and toilet. The mattress was five–star quality, and I could almost pass out immediately. It’s practically a four–star hotel room.
Of course, during night shifts, I might get called a few times to check on patients, but once I fell asleep, I had sweet dreams without worrying about fights or even gunfights outside the window.
Compared to that sunless basement with a stinky mattress, I loved the duty room, and most importantly, it was free.
But after work that day, when I asked Dr. Morgen if I could take the night shift again, he looked at me like I was a monster with three heads. I guess he was shocked that someone in this department loved medicine more than he did.
Sarah, this is your fourth night shift this week. Sure, we get extra pay for night shifts, but you don’t have to push yourself so hard. A cardiac surgeon needs passion but also good stamina. Once you’re in the operating room, you often stand for five or six hours without rest. I think you need to rest so your stamina can keep up with your passion,” Dr. Morgen suggested sincerely.
Night shifts actually came with extra pay! This was news to me. At NYHHC, there was none. Not just for interns, but even for regular
residents.
Although HR spent a lot of time explaining the pay structure and benefits on my first day, I didn’t listen carefully. I was too excited to

start a new job but also irritated to see Federien.
At that time, I had one thing on dry mind: start the job, finish the Internship, and nothing else mattered.
Extin pay for night shifts? Sweet surprise.
I couldn’t help but grin, “Dr. Morgen.”
“Just call me Steve,”
“Okay, Steve. Don’t worry, III balance rest and work. This morning bef, work, I even ran 5 miles in the gym upstairs. Four night shifts are nothing to me, and I want to get into the groove quickly and adapt to the work here. And to be honest,” I lowered my voice, blushing a hit, “I’m still paying off student loans, and I really need the money.”
Steve looked at me sympathetically and paused for a moment before saying, “Alright, I get it. I was just like you back then. I’ll adjust the
schedule.”
Olivia was about to leave and chimed in, “Sarah, are you working the night shift again tonight? I heard you have a boyfriend. Haven’t seen him for a few nights; don’t you miss him? I bet he misses you a lot.”
Steve seemed to hear this for the first time and looked at me with a complicated expression. “Sarah, fulfilling sexual needs is also important for doctors.”
I rolled my eyes, questioning inwardly, Steve, now I’m curious how you fulfill your sexual needs. Because you practically live in the hospital:
And the news that I had a boyfriend seemed to have spread throughout the hospital. When I lied about it, the Chiefs present probably wanted it to spread, as it was more dignified than me being fired from HC.
“You don’t need to work tonight, Sarah. Follow the schedule from now on. I’ll increase your night shifts appropriately but not excessively,” Steve offered.
I nodded gratefully. But thinking about having to return to that basement, I couldn’t help but sigh sadly.
Olivia passed by me and whispered in her usual excited tone, “You have boyfriend and didn’t let us know earlier. I thought you were crushing on the new CEO.”
This woman was unbelievable. When did I ever show any interest in the new CEO?
After having dinner at the hospital and standing at the entrance, I realized it was raining heavily outside, and it was completely dark.
I remembered that my car was at the repair shop to get a new rearview mirror, and I was notified to pick it up yesterday.
Damn, it seemed like I would have to take the subway. But after getting off near East LA, I would have to walk through that sketchy neighborhood at night. Thinking about the bloodstains on the ground that night, I shivered.
God, please! I gritted my teeth; there was no other choice. Just endure for another month, and maybe I could move to a new place.
Traised my hag over my head and dashed into the rain.
As I reached the curb, ready to cross the street, a brown Porsche screeched to a stop in front of me, and I jumped back, avoiding the splashing water.
“Hey, watch out!” I shouted.
Suddenly, the car’s back door opened, and I saw Federico sitting there with a grim face. “Get in!” he said.

I stopped, hesitating in the rain.
His voice softened a bit. “Sarah, it’s raining. I’m just offering you a ride tome, nothing more.”
I bit my lip and got into the cat. As the door closed, I thought I saw a fish of red at the hospital entrance.
