In My Presious Life 40

Tara was the heiress to the Keystone Group

After two days of rest at her family estate, she had fully regained her energy

She spent the morning galloping across the sprawling fields on her favorite horse, feeling refreshed and reinvigorated

On a small hill, she pulled the reins, halting her horse

Looking up at the open sky, she shouted, Alright, I’m ready now

Bring on whatever challenges lie ahead!”

Despite her bold words, nervous anticipation churned inside her. For days, she hadn’t dared to look up any details about her fiancénot his appearance, nor his background

But now, she steeled herself, ready to face the unknown

Taking a deep breath, she pulled out her phone, determined to search for information about him

Just as she opened her browser, her phone rang

She answered through her Bluetooth headset

Joe’s voice came through, warm and familiar. Tara, come back. Your brother’s home.”

It had been over six months since Tara last saw Jack Stone. Setting her phone aside, she turned her horse around and galloped down the hill

The marriage was already set in stone. Whoever her fiancé was, she would have to marry him

Her horse raced quickly, and before long, she reached the grand entrance of the estate

Several luxury cars were parked near the gate, where Joe and Jack were chatting with someone

A guest, it seemed

The guest’s tall frame, broad shoulders, and long legs immediately stood out. He exuded an aura of confidence and sophistication

Hearing the sound of hooves, they all turned to look at her. The guest turned as well

Tara froze

It was him

The mixedheritage man

How could it be him?!

And judging by her father and Jack’s familiarity with him…

This was mortifying

She dismounted gracefully in her riding outfit, looking poised and elegant despite the inner turmoil

She fiddled nervously with her riding crop, avoiding direct eye contact

Jack teased, What’s the matter, little sis? Shy now that you’ve seen your fiancé?”

Tara’s eyes widened in shock

Her fiancé was Hunter Jasper?!

The sheer coincidence of it all was overwhelming

Hunter raised a brow slightly, his expression composed but his smile warm. Hello, we meet again.”

Joe’s brows furrowed in surprise. You’ve already met?”

Jack’s curiosity was piqued. How do you two know each other?”

Tara’s face turned crimson, overwhelmed by embarrassment and unease

After how they met, would Hunter still agree to the marriage

Hunter, calm and composed, chuckled lightly. On the flight back to Birkham, I happened to sit next to her.”

Joe and Jack spoke in unison, Well, that’s quite the coincidence.”

The two exchanged a subtle glance

Both were sharp enough to notice the faint tension between Hunter and Tara

Joe smiled warmly. Hunter’s quite skilled at horseback riding as well. Tara, why don’t you show him around the estate?”

Tara, grateful for the chance to speak with Hunter alone, replied, Sure.”

Hunter gestured politely for her to lead the way

Tara nodded, and they walked side by side toward the stables

Joe watched their retreating figures, a satisfied smile spreading across his face. They look like a perfect match.”

Jack smirked. He’s barely good enough for my sister.”

As they reached the stables, Tara lowered her voice, glancing at Hunter. Do you still want to marry me?”

Hunter’s lips curled into a faint smile. Of course. Do you not want to marry me?”

Tara hesitated, her words faltering. I do, butafter how we met”

Hunter looked at her intently, his tone sincere. I think the way we met was romantic. I don’t care about your past, only about our future.”

Tara smiled, her tension easing. I feel the same

Hunter reached for her hand, holding it gently. As long as we’re both committed to making this work, our life together will be just fine.”

Tara laughed, amused. I didn’t expect someone raised overseas to come up with such old- fashioned, heartfelt lines.”

Hunter’s expression softened when he saw her smile, his worries melting away

Tara took a closer look at his impossibly handsome face, her heart feeling unexpectedly at ease

He was young, dashing, and far more impressive than she had imagined

Given their two encounters, she didn’t dislike him

Marrying him was definitely better than being wed to a complete stranger, especially an older

man

And he was capablevery capable

Suddenly, a thought struck her, and she asked, Were our two meetings really just coincidences?”
