George watched as Rachel leisurely got into the car, crossing her legs with a casual air, her expression one of utter calm. The sight made his blood boil.
How did she do it? Every gesture, every look seemed perfectly designed to hit his sore spots, leaving him furious.
But in the end, he was defeated by reality and reluctantly got into the car.
“Take us to Jenster Mansion,” he said through gritted teeth.
Rachel glanced at him. “You’ve got somewhere to stay, right?”
George raised an eyebrow. “You seem to know a lot about me.”
“Well, not everyone lives under a rock like you,” she quipped, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
Everything she said made it sound like she was in the right, while anything George did was wrong. How did she manage to twist everything in her favor?
The driver turned around, clearly confused. “Where are we headed?”
Jenster Mansion,” Rachel repeated.
The driver looked at them both, now even more puzzled. He glanced back at the watch George had tried to give him earlier, wondering if he’d made a mistake.
Finally, they reached the city. The sight of the lights made Rachel eager to get out of the car. She signaled for the driver to stop, and without saying a word to George, she stepped out and disappeared into the street corner.
“Wait… George suddenly realized, with a jolt, that he had no idea where Rachel was living now, after they’d left their old home.
“Hey, George, why are you back in this junky car?” Mortimer asked, staring at him in disbelief as he got out of the dilapidated van.
George’s face darkened. He had no desire to recount the miserable experience. He never wanted to sit in a car like that again.
“Come on in,” Mortimer invited, noticing George’s sour mood.
Inside, George went straight to the study, sat down, and opened his laptop. He typed in a series of codes and accessed a
system.
“What is this?” Mortimer asked, leaning in for a better look.
“This is the network system for the Half–Mountain Estate, George replied coolly. “What kind of skills do you think it would take to hack into something like this?”
“Why would you want to hack into it?” Mortimer asked, puzzled.
But as he looked more closely, understanding began to dawn on him. “Wait… this place? Why would a mansion need such a tight security system?”
George frowned deeply.
It wasn’t just a simple system. No wonder Rachel had spent so much time trying to crack it.

But the fact that she was able to hack into such a complicated system said something. It hinted at her true level of expertise.
“Rachel spent half an hour cracking the system earlier,” George muttered, his eyes dark. He leaned back into the large black chair behind him. “She’s really that good?”
Mortimer was stunned. “She’s that capable?”
Rachel, on the other hand, had just heard that Bryant had used some excuse to take off, fleeing the scene. Lucky for him, he was fast.
Rachel clenched her fists as she returned home.
The next day, after a night of rest, Rachel went back to the office. She saw Herb and went straight to the point. “Did last night’s mess have anything to do with you?”
“How could it?” Herb shrugged. “But… if you’re really over George, why not just talk to your father about it? Also, I saw the security footage. You really threw up all over George. What happened? Is your stomach upset?”
Rachel’s expression shifted slightly.
“That’s irrelevant. I know what I’m doing,” she replied coldly. “As for the acquisition of Elysium Media, we need to speed up the process. I have a feeling George is going to target us, and he’ll likely move against Elysium Media soon.”
“Got it. Actually, I’ve already contacted Braylen Cobb, the CEO of Elysium Media. He’s been into poker recently and is attending a game. We’ve arranged to meet him at the game the day after tomorrow.”
“Perfect,” Rachel said, satisfied with the plan.
Meanwhile, George was massaging his temples, still trying to shake off the discomfort from the previous night.
After being vomited on by Rachel, he’d spent the whole night feeling physically off. He wasn’t exactly nauseous, but his usual clean–freak tendencies were making him feel more uneasy than he’d like to admit.
“George, you don’t look too good. Are you working too hard lately?” she asked, concerned.
George looked up. “What are you doing here?”
I know you’ve been busy, so I made some soup for you,” she said gently, setting the tray down.
She noticed the weariness in his face and hesitated before speaking again. “I heard you’re acquiring Elysium Media?”
“How did you know?” George asked, surprised.
“I wasn’t eavesdropping, but I overheard some people talking outside. Actually, I have a connection with Elysium Media. If you’d like, I could help you get in touch with them. I’m sure Braylen would give us a little favor, considering the relationship my family has with him.”
George raised an eyebrow. “What’s your connection to Elysium Media?”
“My mother was classmates with Braylen. When I was little, he even came over to my house for my birthday. If you’re serious about acquiring Elysium Media, I can try to reach out to him privately. Given our past connection, I’m sure he’ll be willing to help us.”
George thought it over. It seemed like a solid plan.
“Alright, Callie… I’ll leave this to you.”

Callie smiled warmly, placing a hand on her stomach. “It’s no trouble at all. We’re in this together, right? Helping you is the same as helping myself… and our child.”
George couldn’t help but smile slightly at the sight of her gently cradling her belly. He wasn’t yet feeling fully like a father, but the responsibility was beginning to settle in.
“I’ll handle the divorce with Rachel soon. Don’t worry, Callie,” he said softly.
Callie nodded, understanding. “I know how hard it is for you. She’s asking for 100 million dollars–she’s being unreasonable. You’re right not to give it to her.”
George took a deep breath.
It wasn’t just about the money. He realized it wasn’t just about principle either–he was fighting his own frustration, his wounded pride.
In truth, Rachel had been a good wife. Perhaps he hadn’t given her the attention she deserved over the years.
100 million dollars to buy out three years of marriage? Maybe that wasn’t such a bad deal after all.
Callie, watching him closely, thought to herself that George must be deeply conflicted.
But she was certain she was different from Rachel–this marriage made sense for the Fox family. She was the true partner for his career, while Rachel, despite her care at home, never really contributed to his success.
On Friday, Rachel and Herb arrived at the Northville World Trade Center.
Today, a major professional poker tournament was being held there.
“This old fox has been hard to find. But I managed to track him down. He’s obsessed with poker lately, and he’s in one of the VIP boxes–perfect for watching the game. He’s expecting us,” Herb said, filling Rachel in.
