Gracie, still on the ground, looked up with a sorrowful expression and said, “Please don’t say that. Rachel and I are still very good friends. She’s always been kind to me…”
Her words only fueled the anger of the onlookers, who were watching the drama unfold.
“What? She’s being stolen by her best friend? Does she have no shame?”
“She just has that cold, spiteful look.”
“This woman’s only good quality is her looks. Is that what makes men so shallow?”
“I can’t stand women like her who steal other people’s boyfriends.”
Gracie was a master at twisting the truth, making everything sound innocent.
Rachel, watching the scene like it was a play, couldn’t help but feel a mixture of disdain and sympathy for Gracie. This woman, desperate for Rocco, had lost all sense of dignity. With a sigh, Rachel spoke up, her voice cutting through the chaos. “Enough. I don’t compete for men. There’s no shortage of men out there, and who wants to waste time chasing after one?” Gracie, hearing this, looked up with disdain and said, “Then why are you here, huh? You never keep your word! I don’t believe you anymore.”
Gracie’s careless words only further soured the crowd’s opinion of her.
Rachel finally couldn’t take it anymore. She tried to pull her leg free from Gracie’s vice–like grip.
“Gracie, let go of me!”
“Let go?” Gracie refused to budge.
The harder Rachel pulled, the tighter Gracie clung to her. There was a look of determination in Gracie’s eyes now–as if she was willing to drag Rachel down with her.
“Rachel, you’re the one forcing me into this. What’s it gonna be, huh? You want to hit me? Go ahead. I bet you won’t. You see those people filming? If you lay a hand on me, they’ll upload it online, and you’ll be the one getting scolded.”
Rachel let out a low, mocking laugh.
“You really think I’d be scared of that kind of threat?” she said dismissively.
Being slandered online wasn’t a big deal to her.
Gracie’s voice grew sharper, “If this gets posted online, Rocco will be disappointed in you.”
At this, Rachel’s face darkened with contempt, making Gracie feel as if the words stung. Gracie gritted her teeth, thinking she still had one card left to play.
“Rocco means everything to you, doesn’t he? I bet you care about his opinion more than anyone else’s.”
But Rachel just smiled, an icy, superior smile. “Your whole life revolves around Rocco. How pitiful. Maybe you should step outside and see the world. There are plenty of men out there far better than him. Why would I bother with someone like
Rocco?”
“You’re lying,” Gracie spat, her voice bitter. “You don’t know what you’re talking about. Besides, you don’t have any other men around you except your few brothers…

Chapter 46
Before Rachel could respond, a man suddenly appeared from behind her, a mocking smile playing on his lips. In one smooth motion, he slipped his arm around Rachel’s neck.
Rachel froze, realizing too late what was happening.
The familiar scent reached her first, and when she turned, she saw him–a man in his usual black attire. It was George, quietly standing beside her. His sleeve was rolled up, revealing a strong, muscular arm. His face, sharp and handsome, radiated an air of unspoken power. The smile on his lips carried a natural arrogance, and as he looked down at Rachel, the curve of his lips spoke volumes about his confidence.
Rachel’s eyes widened in shock. How had he appeared out of nowhere?
Gracie, along with the onlookers, was stunned by the sudden appearance of this striking man. Who was he? Was he another actor on set? But something about him seemed familiar.
“Who said she doesn’t have other men around her?” George’s voice was calm but laced with authority as he looked down at Gracie, who was still lying on the floor.
Gracie froze, her eyes widening in disbelief.
“You… you’re Rachel’s…?”
George smiled smugly. “Husband.”
The crowd around them gasped. The turn of events was so dramatic, everyone was left speechless.
With a sneer, George looked at Gracie’s arm still wrapped around Rachel’s leg and swiftly kicked her away.
Gracie tumbled across the floor, landing half a meter away, still staring at George, utterly dumbfounded.
Taking advantage of her shock, George easily brushed her off and, with contempt, said, “This is ridiculous. I’ve been with Rachel for years. Not once has she mentioned anything about Rocco. Now, how about you take your little circus act and get out of our sight?”
Gracie’s face turned beet red with fury.
“Years…” she repeated, her eyes locked onto Rachel’s face.
“Wait… what? Was this all some kind of act?”
“It must have been,” someone whispered nearby. “I mean, look at her husband–he’s way better looking than Rocco.”
“Not just that, he’s got so much more charm. Honestly, looking at him, I can almost smell the masculinity in the air. Rocco doesn’t even compare.”
Gracie’s face darkened even more as the whispers continued.
“How can you say such things about Rocco?” Gracie shot back, her voice trembling with frustration. “He’s a big star, and he’s way better looking than this guy. Who cares if he’s handsome? He’s just Rachel’s trophy husband. It’s about strength, not looks.” .
One of the onlookers smirked, “I’m pretty sure this guy has Rocco beat in the strength department. Just look at his watch. That’s a Vacheron Constantin, right? Custom made?”
“Wow, that’s gotta be expensive.”
“Yeah, I’ve seen it in an auction. It went for 10 million dollars.”
The crowd gasped in shock.

Gracie’s eyes fell on the watch–the gold–edged green dial–and she couldn’t believe her eyes.
‘Could he really be that wealthy? Was Rachel introduced to him by someone else?‘ she thought. ̧

But Rachel had always hated those arranged matches with men from good families. She always preferred men she liked, not those chosen for her.
Gracie’s mind reeled. Rachel, standing motionless with her lips pressed tight, glanced at George, who turned to her and spoke softly, “You’re not scared, are you? You look pale. Don’t worry, with me here, no one can hurt you. Let me take you out for something to eat to calm you down.”
Rachel gave him a cold, calculating stare, her gaze filled with icy contempt.
But George, as if oblivious to her icy look, just laughed, his arm still casually draped around her shoulder. “Let’s go, dear. Don’t be scared anymore. You’re safe with me.”
