Chapter 58
A press conference spiraling out of control.
Mortimer glanced at Callie, whose name was still trending on the hot search list, and muttered, “What happened to Callie?“
George, sting silently beside him, shrugged. Pregnancy hormones, maybe?
“Yeah, but this is ridiculous. One wrong word and the managed to offend Bryant. Seriously, what a teammate, Mortimer added, watching George’s expression closely to see if his words would anger him
When George didn’t react, Mortimer continued. “I thought Callic came from a good family, well–bed, could handle both the grand hall and the kitchen Now she’s looking worse than Rachel,”
“Enough” George interrupted sharply, his voice cutting through the room
|_ Mortimer shut his mouth with a tight–lipped frownL
After a moment of silence, George sighed, his tone now softer but resolute. “We can’t always rely on women for everything. Callie’s pregnant with my child. I’ll be patient with her“
With that, he waved his hand, signaling for the car to be ready.
Mortimer, somewhat baffled, thought to himself. It’s already hard enough with her being pregnant if only there were no child involved. He was sure that, given the chance, George would rather the baby not exist. But alas, the child couldn’t just vanish.
The press conference, despite the chaos, had actually been successful. The next day, Rachel received news
rs that serious film projects were approaching Elysium Media, wanting to collaborate on co–productions. For a company that had been on a downward spiral for two years, this was a welcome sign of progress.
As the morning meeting began, Rachel entered to find Yvette, who hadn’t shown up at the office in ages, sitting at the table.
With a bright smile. Yvette greeted Rachel, Ms. Sarratt, congratulations! The acquisition of Elysium Media is off to a great start.”
“Everyone played a part, Rachel replied coolly, walking past her to take a seat at the far end of the table.
“Ms Sarratt Yvette continued, unfazed by Rachel’s lack of enthusiasm, “regarding the first project of Elysium Media, do you have any ideas? I have plenty of resources in the entertainment industry, and if you’re open to it, I’d love to help you fully leverage Elysium Media’s potential”
that Yvette had suddenly turned saintly.
Rachel raised an eyebrow, already sensing trouble. What is she up to now?” She wasn’t about to believe t
Thank you, Miss Canter, but the plans are already in place, Rachel said, her voice dismissive.
Yvere didn’t rush, but simply offered a sly smile, her eyes glinting with a knowing look
The meeting ended without further conflict, but Rachel remained puzzled by Yvette’s behavior just then, Herb walked in, a look of concern on his face.
“I just got word,” he said, “The Summit Group is blocking Elysium Media’s fim”
“The Summit Group? Rachel repeated, frowning-
They control sixty–three percent of the cinema resources in Elestol. If they block us, the damage could be massive”
Rachel’s brow furrowed. She knew the importance of cinema resources–they controlled box office numbers, and a little manipulation behind the senes could ruin a filmm’s reputation. Hox office success was the key to a movie’s profitability.
Then it clicked. “Just now, Yvette said she could help me. And right after I turned her down, the Summit Group caused a problem. You think Yvette knew about this beforehand?”
Herb nodibed. Im sure of it
Rachel pressed her fingers to her temples. Daton it, she’s always scheming
Herbi seemed to think for a moment before suggesting. Tll talk to Yvette.”
Hachel gave hun anamned glance. “Just make sure you don’t
it get yourself caught up in her games.”
Herlz Booked confused, but Rachel didn’t offer further explanation
Later, Yvette walked into Rachel’s office, a
La sommig semide plastered across her face.
“Ms. Sarratt,” she began, “Herb told me everything. Like I said, if you ever need anything, just let me know. The Summit Group! No problems. I

know their daughter, and we’ve been close since childhood. I think we can get her to invest in our film project. If she agrees, surely the Summit Group wouldn’t block their own daughter’s movic, right?”
Rachel’s eyes narrowed as she sat back, her hands flat on the desk, watching Yvette with careful scrutiny.
Rachel, however, seemed perfectly confident, as if she’d already planned everything.
Rachel smiled slightly. “I see. That sounds like a good plan. Let’s go with that
Yvette’s grin widened as she stood up. “I knew you’d be smart about it. Don’t worry, I’ll take care of things. The Summit Group won’t be a problem.”
After Yvette left, her confident stride echoing in the hallway, Rachel’s smile slowly faded.
“Ahmad has changed tactics, trying to ease into the company with small projects, Herb commented.
Rachel snorted. “No surprise there. They can smell desperation from a mile away. Let them play their game. As long as they don’t go too far, we don’t need to intervene for now!
Herb nodded reluctantly: “Okay, but we should keep an eye on things.
Rachel thought for a moment. “I need to make contact with the Summit Group directly. I don’t want Yvette pulling the strings without us being
involved.
“That’s going to be difficult, Herb warned. “The Summit Group’s CEO, Kamron Hoover, is known for his love of women. I’ve heard he got it entertainment industry just for that reason. He’s hardly ever in Burenheim City, always off on yachts with his mistresses.

Rachel’s eyes flickered with curiosity. “So, he’s into women. You think he’ll try something with me?”
Herb looked uncomfortable. “You don’t know men’s egos. Just be careful”
Rachel smirked, unfazed. “Don’t worry about it. Let’s just make the connection”
A short while later, Herb came back with a sigh. “Well, he’s on vacation, and he invited us to join him.”
Rachel grinned “Great. Let’s go.”
Herb still looked worried, but Rachel reassured him, “No one knows I’m the CEO of Sarrattop Group. They still think I’m just your mistress. I’ll stay behind you; he won’t dare make a move.”
Herb reluctantly packed his things, and they boarded a private plane provided by Sarrattop Group, heading south.
Soon, they arrived in Southland, where the sparkling blue coast stretched endlessly. Kamron Hoover clearly knew how to enjoy life.
But as they reached the resort entrance, Rachel heard a familiar voice that immediately made her stomach tum.
“Herb, fancy seeing you

you here!”
Sybil, wearing nothing but a bikini and a sheer beach cover–up, ran over to them with enthusiasm. Her curvaceous figure swayed provocatively with each step, her assets bouncing as she approach
