Chapter 60
As Kamron reluctantly left, George e turned to Rachel and smirked. “Herb really let you come here and throw yourself at him like that?
His tone only served to deepen Rachel’s irritation
“George, you really are full of yourself, aren’t you? You think just because you stopped him, I should be forever grateful?” she shot back, turning on her heel. The divorce agreement’s been handed over. We don’t need to keep meeting up.”
George, unfazed, kept up with her. “Well, the Sarrattop Group is collaborating with the Fox Group now. You think I enjoy running into you like this! If you’re working for them now, did you actually join the Sarrattop Group!”
He followed behind them.
He had indeed heard that for some inexplicable reason, the Sarrattop Group and the Summit Group had developed a rift, and Herb was planning to come to Southland to have a talk with Kamron.
He immediately canceled other engagements and followed him here
What surprised him, though, was that Herb, coming all the way out here for work, had brought Rachel along
Rachel raised an eyebrow and answered coolly, “If I’m not mistaken, yes, I’m working for the Sarrattop Group”
George’s eyes sharpened as he approached her. “What’s your role?”
“Wherever I’m needed, she replied casually
After all, her family owned the company. It was only natural she’d go where she was needed.
George smirked. “Let me guess, Herb’s personal secretary?”
Rachel stopped and shot him a look. Just a secretary?” she mocked, spinning around to face him. “In your eyes, I’m that pathetic, huh Just fit to be a secretary! Well, I guess it makes sense. In your eyes, Callie’s the best, right? So what am I? Just a secretary–that’s enough for me, apparently”
Her words landed directly on George, and the color drained from his face.

George, seething, stormed back to his room.

Mortimer greeted, noticing George’s foul mood. I’ve arranged the yacht, everything’s set for a nice outing. What’s wrong with
George gulped down a glass of water before exhaling sharply and relaying everything that had happened.
Mortimer only gave a small, rueful grin. “And here I thought you were the one with the upper hand.”
George’s eyes narrowed. “What do you mean by that?”
Mortimer said, “You’ve forgoller
forgotten, haven’t you! Back when Rachel was still with you, she offered to help you at the company. Do you remember what you said back then?”
George froze for a

He couldn’t recall any such thing.
Seeing the blank look on George’s face, Mortimer knew right away that he didn’t remember a thing
“Back then, when your stomach issues were still bothering you, Rachel suggested she could come work at the company. That way, she could take care of your meals every day, and it would be better for your health. But you were impatient and told her she didn’t know anything and would only make things worse at the office.
“Rachel said she could work as a secretary, just organizing files. And you straight up told her that even secretaries at the Fox Group weren’t hired
George’s mind flickered, and suddenly memories started to resurface.
Mortimer sighed. “It’s such a shame. If only we knew how capable she was back then, we should’ve locked her in at the Fux Group. Now look at this, she’s over at the Sarrattop Group helping them. And Herb’s spoiling her, letting her have her way. Do you think he’s figured out that Rachel’s actually that impressive? Honestly, I wonder if Kachel’s hiding some serious skills from us,”
“Alright, that’s enough, George snapped, raising his head, clearly irritated. “Which side are you on, exactly!”

“… I’m obviously on your side!” Mortimer quickly backpedaled.
Then why are you always praising Rachel? Are you trying to say I’m some kind of fool who doesn’t know how to judge people?”
“No, no, of course not!”
“She could be a genius for all I care, but the Fox Group would never accept someone with a temper like hers. Let her join the company? Hell, it’d be a battle of who’s in charge–me or her. Hmph”
George yanked at his shirt, seething with frustration, and stormed off inside. Mortimer could only shrug helplessly.
This guy was so stubborn. Talking like he didn’t regret a thing.
Well, he was curious to see just how long George could keep up that tough front.
Back in his room, George lay on his bed, arms crossed behind his head. He replayed the scene with Rachel in his mind: her eyes lowered, asking if she could go to the company and take care of him. He had turned her away with disgust.
At the time, he hadn’t thought much of it. He had never truly valued her, and now, he was starting to understand why she harbored resentment.
“She’s smart, capable, he thought to himself. But what exactly is she doing at the Sarrattop Group?
He didn’t care about her job title, but in big companies like that, there was always a person who did whatever needed to be done, with no fixed role. Was Rachel one of those people! If so, it meant the Sarrattop Group really valued her.
Meanwhile, Rachel had returned to the villa, where Herb was waiting
“You’re telling me George showed up?” Herb raised an eyebrow. “Seems like he’s really been chasing you, Well, I’m not surprised. The Fox Group’s internal power struggle over the heir is heating up, and whoever gets the Sarrattop Group’s support will be a shoo–in Lauren’s trying to make moves, but nothing’s happening as fast as George.”
Rachel snorted in disbelief. “Not a chance”
Just then, a messenger arrived with an invitation. It was from Kamron, inviting them on the yacht trip. So now both George and Kamron were sending invites.
Herb looked at Rachel, concern written across his face. “We don’t have to go if you don’t want to see him,”
Rachel shrugged nonchalantly. Tm not afraid of him.”
But when they arrived at the dock the next day, it wasn’t just George on the yacht. Mortimer and Sybil were with him, and Sybil’s gaze was fixed on Herb with a heat that Rachel couldn’t ignore.
She nudged Herb, whispering. I think the one you should be worried about now is you.”
George had already noticed Sybil’s interest and turned to her, voice cold. “You came all the way here for Herb?”
Sybil, not missing a beat, replied, “If he becomes my boyfriend, our family’s partnership with the Sarrattop Group will be solid. Besides, do you really want to see Rachel with Herb That would be a disgrace to our family.”
George didn’t respond, but his silence was telling
Sybil, thinking she had found the perfect leverage, continued, “We can’t let Rachel end up being Herb’s wife. Help me out, and I’ll help you. We can break them apart and fix everything.”
George’s mind raced. The thought of Rachel marrying Herb hit him like a punch to the gut.
He swallowed hard, the image of
