Chapter 70
Perls could hardly believe in as she took the phone.
On the other end. Aryan’s voice came through clearly, “Hello?”
Just that one word was enough to almost bring Perla to tears.
“Ah… It’s really you, Aryan! Aryan, I’m your fan! My name’s Perla. I’ve loved your since I was littlel
“Oh, Rachel mentioned you. Hi, it’s an honor to have you as a fan. By 1
way, she said something about you damaging something of mine?”
Rachel watched from behind as Perla nearly bounced off the floor in excitement, she couldn’t even imagine what Aryan had said to her; Perla looked ready to float off into space.
After what seemed like an eternity. Perla reluctantly hung up the phone and turned back, her face radiant but still trembling with disbelief.
“So! Do you believe it’s really y Aryan now!” Rachel grinned, teasing
Perla nodded enthusiastically. “Yes! Yes! I believe! And Mr. Cooper said he’s coming to Burenheim City soon, and I might even get to meet him! Is this a dream” Can I really meet him?”
Rachel blinked.
“What! He’s coming to Burenheim City!”
Aryan was coming to Burenheim Ciry?
She quickly grabbed her phone and shot a message to him. [Are you really coming to Burenheim City!]
Aryan replied casually. [Yeah. It’s been three years since I saw you. My schedule’s clear for now, so I’m going to visit her
Rachel’s lips twitched involuntarily
The staff around them were still in disbelief. Was it really Aryan‘ How could this woman possibly know a global film star like him?
They exchanged uncertain looks. Surely, Perla wasn’t so naive to be tricked, right? But since Miss Hoover was they couldn’t exactly argue
with her
As Rachel and Herb left the set, Herb muttered, “So Aryan really is coming to Burenheim City?”
Rachel sighed. “Well, if he insists on coming, what can I do? But with Aryan’s help, maybe I won’t need to step in. The Summit Group’s problems might just be solved without me.”
Herb clapped his hands. “Right, that’s true!”
Meanwhile, George had spent the day at the hospital.
Callie had cried for hours, begging the doctor to let George stay another day.
George sighed as he watched her, I’m fine. There’s still so much to do at the company. I can’t stay any longer. You should go home, and stop crying
Though George knew she was just worried about him, her tears made him oddly irritated. He kept telling himself not to get upset, but it was hard to ignore the frustration that built up in him
Callar, eyes swollen from crying, looked at him with desperation. “Next time, can you take me with you? I said you fril into the sea, and I was terribed. If you hadn’t come back… I… I wish I had gone with you,”

“How could they let you fall into the water! What are they doing? I going to fund out how they messed up, how
“It was my own mistake. It’s not their fault.”
George didn’t tell her that he’d jumped in after Rachel when she fell. He couldn’t. Even though it wasn’t a lie, he felt guilty for what he had done–or rather, for what he hadn’t done. He hadn’t been there when Rachel needed him, and that haunted him. But how could he explain that to Callie
Finally discharged from the hospital, George was about to leave when he suddenly remembered, “Wait, where’s Rachel?”
She left already, Mortimer replied “She left in the morning.

Chapter 70
“Already” George immediately picked up his phone and dialed Rachel.
“Hello” came her calm voice.
“You’re out of the hospital already?”
“Yeah,” she replied casually. There’s nothing wrong with me. Am I supposed to stay in the hospital forever? Oli, wait, I guess Mr. Fox might be a little more delicate about these things.”
George couldn’t help but frown
m guessing you didn’t leave this early just for work,” he said,
I’m
“Yeah. Im not the type who can just sit around in a hospital.” Rachel quipped.
George felt a pang of jealousy. She worked so hard for the Sarrattop Group, never resting. “Are you still dealing with the Summit Group issues?” he asked. “Look, I can tell you this: the drowning incident was most likely Kamron’s doing. He won’t be giving you any favors, no matter what you try to do. I’m afraid it’s all for nothing
Rachel let out a small laugh. “What’s your point, George!”
He straightened his tone, trying to sound more serious. “If you want, I can handle the Summit Group issue for you.”
Rachel was taken aback. “Ah, no, I can manage it myself. I don’t need your help.
George felt a wave of frustration and something deeper–hurt. “Rachel. I’m offering to help because I genuinely want to. Don’t refuse me.”
“I’m not refusing you, George,” she said softly. “I really don’t need help. I can do it on my own.”
“Really?” George asked, his voice growing sharper. “Or is it that you don’t want me to help because you don’t want to admit you need me? You’re just trying to carry everything on your own, aren’t you!”
Rachel’s voice grew low, matching his intensity. “George, why do you suddenly want to help me now?”
“We may be divorced, but in the past, you’ve done a lot for me. Helping you now is the least I can do.”
Rachel snorted. “I’ve already asked for 100 million dollars from you, and you’ve given it to me. I’m fine now. I don’t want to revisit the past
my guilt
“Rachel,” George’s voice grew louder, frustration seeping into his tone. “Fine, consider it my enough for you?”
I owe you, and I’m trying to make it right. Is that
There was a long silence before Rachel spoke again, her voice cold. “You think just because you feel guilty, I should help ease your conscience? I’m not your emotional crutch. George. You don’t have to fix things for me just because it makes you feel better”
“You” George was stunned by her words.
“And don’t worry about me. I can handle it. If you feel guilty, direct it somewhere else. Maybe focus on Callie, for once”
Without another word, Rachel hung up.
“Rachel “George seethed, but Mortimer, who had been watching from behind, stepped forward.
“Again? Are you seriously getting mad at her? You’ve got to be kidding me. Every time she says something, you get so worked up. And you still keep trying to provoke her. At this rate. Im convinced she’ll be the one to drive you crazy
George scoffed, his temper flaring. “Let’s see how she plans to solve the Summit Group mess on her own. Does she really think Herb can everything for her?”
