George froze for a moment. Thinking back, he realized he hadn’t really done a tough check when they gut married.

Chapter 16
He’d just picked Rachel up from nowhere, knew she was an orphan who had escaped from an orphanage and worked various jobs, Beyond that, he didn’t know much about her at all.
He had handled the paperwork himself, and everything went smoothly. That meant the documents she provided back then couldn’t have been fake. After all, no one could forge documents so perfectly that even the city hall couldn’t tell.
He thought, Wait. what about the marriage license George quickly started looking for it, but it was gone.
“Damn i………” Grorge said.
Watching George grow increasingly agitated, Mortimer couldn’t help but awkwardly comment. “You really didn’t take your soon–to–be ex–wife seriously, did you?”
George’s eyes darkened, a cold, piersing look taking over.
Mortimer said. “George, since y Sarrattop Group.

“Their new CEO seems to have patched things up with Ahmad. They’ve even teamed up to host a charity gala.”
Georges thoughts were forcibly pulled back. “So they’ve already reconciled? Looks like this new CEO isn’t as useless as I thought. But I still don’t buy it. Ahmad wouldn’t just hand everything over like that..
“Exactly. I’m sure he’ll cause more trouble down the line. We should go to the gala too, just to keep an eye on things.”
You take care of the arrangements.” George wasn’t particularly interested.
“Also your grandfather’s birthday banquet is coming up. Have you gotten his gift ready?”
Suddenly, George remembered something. “Rachel promised my grandpa she’d be there for his birthday
Mortimer noticed the sudden spark in George’s eyes and thought, ‘Dude, why do you seem so worked up when it comes to your soon–to–be ex- wife? Is that really the right response?”
Later that day, Rachel secretly returned to the hospital
My miscarriage procedure–it’s ready, right? Rachel said.
The longer this pregnancy went on, the harder it would be for her to let go. Yesterday, she had even started feeling some morning sickness. That couldn’t continue. She needed to end this pregnancy as soon as possible.
Although the doctor seemed to hesitate, seeing Rachel casually swiping a black card in the hospital–clearly someone with significant status–he didn’t dare to say a word. He quickly set everything up for the procedure. Before long. Rachel was lying on the operating table.
“Ms. Sarratt, are you absolutely sure you want to go through with this? We just discovered something unusual. We detected two heartbeats, which suggests you might be carrying twins. The doctor said, clearly reluctant.
After all, naturally conceiving twins was rare, and such a pregnancy was a big deal.

Rachel froze, taken aback, thinking. What Twins! She hadn’t expected that at all. She’d only spent one night pregnant with twins. How can things be so unlucky?
Rachel lay there, squeezing her eyes shut, trying to block out the shock. So what if it’s twins?”
Im doing it Rachel said flatly, lying back down.
The doctor sighed but moved forward with the preparations…
As the bright surgical lights clicked on and the anesthetic was readied, Rachel suddenly felt a sharp pang in her abdomen.
