Chapter 2
When Rachel woke up, she found herself in the hospital.
“Rachel, you’re finally awake,” Martin said softly.
Rachel linked, her eyes adjusting to the light. She saw Grandpa how did you get here?”
aw the familiar figure of
e of Martin, her grandfather, sining by her bedside. Her heart twisted.
She quickly threw herself into his arms, and in that moment, all the pain and frustration of the past three years came flooding out, impossible in hold back any longer
Martin said, his voice full of worry as he looked at her frail, weakened form “Kid, when you land that fight with your dad and stormed off from the Sarratt family, do you have any idea how long we seard for you!
“And now, your dad finally kicked that woman out of the house. What are you waiting for? Come home with me?
He shook his head, eyes full of concern. “What the hell happened to your fit’s only been three years, and you’ve let yourself fall apart like
Rachel’s eyes welled up as she looked up at him. Yeah, three whole years.
When she left home, part of the reason was because Bryant Surratt had insisted on marrying some famous actress, and that pretty much shattered
her heart.
But what they didn’t know was that the real reason was that from the moment she first saw George, she had fallen for him, who aloof and cold
seemed eternally
“Alright, enough of this, Rachel. Don’t talk about it now. I am getting old, and your father’s always been unreliable. Your brothers are all of track, and the Sarrattop Group needs you back to take clurge
“Everyone’s waiting g for you to come home. Rest up, and then come back with
Rachel blinked but remained silent
Martin frowned when he saw her reaction. “What’s this? You still don’t want to come home?!
“It’s not like that, Grandpa” Rachel lowered her head. I still have some things I need to take care of. Once I’m done, Til come back w away: Please, Grandpa, just give me a linde more time.”

Martin’s expression softened. “Alright, that’s fine. The Sarrattop Group is also planning to expand into Burenheim City, and I’ll a while. You can handle things here for me, and then well head back to Arcadean City together
d I’ll need to
In stay here for
Rachel didn’t dare tell him that she still needed to undergo surgery.
Martin had always been the one who doted on her most, but she had been the source of his constant worry. If he knew that she had even gone as far as having a child for George, it would break his heart.
“Oh, by the way, what time is it?” Rachel asked,
It was only then that Kachel remembered to check the time. When she saw | was already eight o’clock, she quickly sat up. “I still have something to take care of. Grandpa, could Jury give me a ride!”
Scenes were unfolding at Blossom Villa.
“Sir, everything’s almost packed up. Ms. Nunez will be able to move in soon.” The servants foxd already moved all of Rachel’s belongings out.
George

Canide, the sound of a car braking, sinootlidy ei chord. A black Rolls–Royer pulled up in front of the house. It was a limited edition.
The servants at the door were puzzled, wondering who could be arriving, when suddenly the car door opencil, and to their surprise, the woman stepping out was none other than Rachel.
George’s eyes Hashed with surprise.
Rachel was dressed in a gray suit jacket, a short skirt, and her pate, almost translucent skin stol out even more against the sleek black luxury car. She looked striking, undeniably nodicraldr
Thick brows, red lips—she was nothing like the fragile, plain roman she had once been. She walked down the states with striking confidence, though her face was shuckingly pale.

Chapter 2
George thought, Is it because of the divorce” His mind, which had been racing just moments before, now felt strangely calm.
He glanced at her and asked, his tone flat, “You sick or something?”
Rachel looked up at the tall figure of George. He still wore the black suit she had chosen for him, and the pin on his chest was a gift she had bought.
The thought of him wearing this outfit while embracing and kissing Callie made her feel sick to her stomach.
She gave a bitter smile and sneered. “Are you actually concerned about me?” She thought. “This is almost unheard of!
George’s gaze flickered, but his expression remained cold. “If you’re going to die, at least wait until after the divorce. I don’t want to be blamed for killing my wife. That’d be hard to explain.”
Rachel thought. I know it all along. Rachel showed no sign of being affected as she replied coolly, “Don’t worry. I won’t die before I sign. And I wouldn’t want to die with the Fox family’s name. That’d be bad luck.”
George’s hawk–like eyes grew colder, like ice had suddenly filled the air. He thought. She is talking back now. For the first time in three years, she is speaking to me like this
A cold, mocking smile tugged at his lips. “You’ve really held back, haven’t you? Three years and not a single glimpse of the real you”
“Yeah it’s been tough” Rachel murmured, her voice soft as she looked up at him. When she met his eyes again, all she showed was indifference. “My acting’s not bad, is it!
“But I suppose that’s only fitting. Seeing the proud look you always have on your face when you get out of bed… definitely Oscar–worthy. You’re really something”
You George’s face darkened. He thought, What is she saying” “What’s this all about, Rachel?”
He thought, ‘She has never been like this before. What has happened to her? How has she changed so completely overnight?”
“It doesn’t matter how good my acting is, does it? Three years and I couldn’t keep your heart. But the moment Callie sheds a few tears, you’re there. running to kiss her dirty feet.
“So, I might as well skip the acting. I’m just here to grab the papers, get the signatures, and be done with it”
For the first time, George really saw her. He realized he had never truly understood who Rachel was, not in the three years they’d been married.
Rachel standing in front of him was nothing like the obedient, docile Rachel he had once known–the one who cooked dinner every night and greeted him with adoration when he came home.
“Why the rush to get divorced?” George asked, confused.
She thought, Tam in a rush, alright. The thought of wasting another minute with a man like him made Rachel feel sick to her stomach.
*Because I’m in a hurry,” she said flatly, the disgust clear in her voice. “Three years wasted with you. It’s just bad luck.”
“Ah, so that’s it. You’re already in a rush to find someone else, huh? Hurry up and sign then, so you don’t waste any more of my time.
“That’s exactly it, isn’t it? Good for you, Rachel Talking about finding someone new. I’m guessing you’ve already got someone lined up, haven’t you?” George’s expression turned dark with anger.
Rachel remained calmn, unfazed, “Just because you’re dirty doesn’t mean everyone is. I haven’t gone to someone else’s bed while still married. That’s not something I’d do.” With that, she turned and walked away without another word.
“George… Callie called out.
As Rachel stepped outside, she was met with the sight of Callie standing there, holding an Hermes shopping bag, her makeup flawless and her face radiating smug satisfaction.
