Chapter 31
The s
secretary found herself in an awkward position.
Ever since Rachel returned, she had made it clear that anyone from the Fox family was a complete taboo for the Sarrattop Group–no cooperation, no interaction. That was the Sarratiop Group’s stance. Yet, on Bryant’s very first day in town, he invited the Fox family to attend their grand banquet. How could the secretary bring this up to Rachell
Should they listen to Bryant, or should they stick with Rachel?
Rachel’s face suffened, but she shrugged it off. Tine, let him stir up whatever trouble lie wants. I’m not going to any welcoming banquet, though.”
George received an invitation, and his surprise was palpable,
“Are you sure this is an invitation from the Sarrattop Group?”
Before this, they had been trying to make inroads with the Sarrattop Group, but the feedback was always cold–like they wanted nothing to do with the Fox family. Now, out of the blue, they were receiving an invitation.
George couldn’t help but feel confused
Yes. Mr. Fox. Are you going to attend! It’s a rare opportunity”
“Alright, prepare yourselves, George said, still unsure of what exactly was going on. Only by attending would he figure out what was really happening
Rachel wasn’t planning to bother with her troublesome father anymore.
Yvene arrived at the office, her face slightly awkward as she saw Rachel.
The last time Yvette had made a misstep, she had no choice but to lay low for a while, though her resentment had only grown. She was sure it was Herb who had exposed her weakness.
The thought made her uncomfortable.
“Ma. Sarratt,” Yvette began, trying to sound professional. “I just heard that you’re looking into the Sarrattop Group’s film and media business in Burenbeim City. As you know, our group hasn’t had much success in this area. The Fox family pretty much dominates the industry here. If we want to break in, we’d have to consider collaborating with them. If you’re interested, I can arrange a meeting with them.”
Rachel looked up. her gaze cold. “Miss Carter, the Sarrattop Group doesn’t need to rely on anyone else to break into an industry. It seems you might have some misunderstandings about our company.”
Rachel knew that the Fox family controlled a massive portion of the film and media industry across the country, and that was exactly why she was interested in challenging them. So why would she collaborate with them?
ou think?”
“Ms. Sarratt, that seems a bit risky, don’t you
Yvette spoke cautiously, trying to offer her opinion
Rachel didn’t hesitate. “If you think it’s too risky, feel free to step out of my planning team”
ווי!
Yvette narrowed her eyes, but in her mind, she thought, If Marbel insists on this, then III just sit back and watch her mess it up?
“Since you’ve made up your mind, I’ll fully cooperate with you, Ms. Sarrait,” Yvette said with forced enthusiasın.
in lier office, Yvette would make sure everyone knew that Rachel was making reckless decisions, all for the sake of going head–to–head with the Fir family. Self–destruction, she thought
Rachel ignored Yvette’s prity thoughts. Opening a file, she cassially said to Herb, “I want to start by acquiring Elysium Media. That’s the best entry point for this industry”
Herb glanced at der nsformation. This company s
been losing money for the past two years, but they’ve been in the entertainment business for a long timur. It’s a solid move, though the Fox family seems to be interested in them too.”
“Kxactly” Rachel replied, clasping her hands together. “That’s why we need to act first?
Herb, still watching Yver leave, leaned back in his chair and turned to Rachel. “Are you doing
g this just to antagonize George!”
Rachel’s eyes narrowed, “How could I? I don’t want any more entanglements with him, but if we want to break into the lurenheim City market and we don’t want to collaborate with the Fox family, then we have to take a bite from their jur and grali whatever WE CUIL
Herb, with a knowing look in his eyes, leaned closer to larr.

Chapter 31
Rachel waved her hand in frustration, “Go on and do your job.”
“Alright, I think there’s a project in the works at Elys
s at Elysium Media. We should visit the set and check it out, Herb said.
Meanwhile, Sybil was clinging to George.
“George. I know you’re going to the Tomorrow’s Dawn shoot. There’s an actor I really like in it. Can I come with you?”
George was clearly annoyed. Tm going for work, not for sightseeing”
“I promised my friends I’d go with them. Please, just let me tag along. It’d be really embarrassing if I don’t,” she said, pouting.
“Fine, but don’t wander around. If something happens, don’t expect me to help
Sybil satisfied with the answer, agreed readily.
Tomorrow’s Dawn was a post–apocalyptic film, and a key project for Elysium Media, with a budget of 33 million dollars. If it failed, Elysium Media could face bankruptcy. A slew of A–list celebrities were involved, making it one of the most high–profile projects of the year.
Rachel, along with Herb, arrived at the set. The crew, not recognizing Rachel’s identity, immediately spotted Herb and rushed to greet him, offering him a VIP lounge to rest in
Rachel squinted as she observed the organized chaos on set. Despite the apparent disorder when no one was watching, the foundation of this old entertainment company was still very stable.
Just as she was thinking, she saw someone walk toward them from behind–George
He, too, noticed Rachel and Herb immediately. After a brief pause, he flashed a sly smile and approached them.
“Well, well, Mr. Fox, what a surprise to see you here,” he said, his tone dripping with sarcasm.
The producer of Tomorrow’s Dawn, Mariam Todd, looked awkward.
Elysium Media had been courting both the Sarrattop Group and the Fox family for investment. Mariam had been instructed by the president to treat both sides well, making sure not to offend anyone. But she never expected that the two giants would show up at the same time.
Both were top companies, and Mariam wasn’t in a position to anger either of them.
George walked up to them, glancing at Rachel, then sneered. “Herb, we meet again. You’ve got her with you on your work trip?
Herb smiled. “Of course. Wherever I go,
go, she goes with me.”
It was a joke, really–Rachel was the president of their company. Was he really expected to leave her behind?
George’s discomfort was palpable. He couldn’t help but sneer, The Sarrattop Group is getting into the entertainment business now!”
Herb raised an eyebrow. “Why, is that a problem?”
Remembering that the Fox family was still hoping for a partnership with the Sarrattop Group, George pressed on, “Herb, you know that the Fox family dominates half of the entertainment industry. If you collaborate with us, it’d be a lot easier for you to break into the business, don’t you
think?
