Herb’s expression remained impassive as he replied. “My stance is the Sarratiup Group’s stance. As for the personal reasons behind it, that’s a matter for the Sarrattop Group, not something Mr. Fox needs to worry about.”
It was obrimes to anyone watching that Heils was not only indifferent to George but seemed to hold an open hostility toward him,
George, unable to consider that perhaps his own behavior was the problem, immediately assumed that Herb’s antagonism stemmed from Rachel He shot a sharp, mocking look at her and said, “I didn’t realize Herli was such a man of principle. But I wonder what the new CEO of Sarrattop would think about you mixing business with personal feelings”
Herb, unruffled by George’s jali, kept his smile in place. “Don’t worry, Mr. Fox. You don’t need to concern yourself with that. In world, Rachel abways comes first. As for everyone ebe—well, I couldn’t care less what they think”
George cheart sank at those words.
Behind them. Sybil had been glaring at Herb the whole time, seething with jealousy. She turned her eyes to Rachel, as though trying to make sense of how someone like Rachel could make Herb stand so firmly by her side.
“What is she, really?‘ Sybil fumed silently. How does she deserve Herb’s loyalty?
The tension between the two men was palpable, and the producer, drenched in sweat, desperately tried to ease the atmosphere. “How about we go watch the shoot? They’re starting son….
George reluctantly pulled his gaze away and finally headed into the VIP lounge, though his eyes never strayed far from Rachel as though he wanted TO COMULIe her with his store.
Kachel, irritated by the unwanted attention, excused herself and walked out of the room.
Sybil, now emboldened, sneered, “What’s Rachel even doing here, so shamelessly trying to latch onto Herb She’s just a discarded woman, and Herb ́s such a good man–how can she have the nerve to even try?”
Rachel turned back, her gaze assessing Sybil from head to toe. “What exactly are you trying to say? You think it’s wrong for me to be with him, but you think it’s fine to trash–talk me?”
gas her emotions betrayed her.
Sybil was caught off guard, her face faltering as
Rachel continued, the sharpness of her words biting. “Or do you think Herb could ever look at you the way he looks at me?”
Herb and Rachel had known each other for years, and Rachel knew exactly what type of women he liked. A woman like Sybil, with her pretensions, would never catch his eye.
She wasn’t about to explain herself to Sybil if Sybil backed off and stopped harassing Herb, all the better.
Furious, Sybil trapped, “You ve just latched out Herl, haven’t you? He’s so naive, he probably doesn’t even see you for what you really are. If it were any other man, he’d never give you the time of day!”
Kachels response was calm and a different, “Well, that’s just your opinion, isn’t it?” She brushed past Sybil with an air of finality.
However, as itachel neared the actors lounge, she was stopped by the security guard at the door.
“Miss, no entry allumed”
Rachel jamed and looked up, realizing
shrid made a mistake.
“Sorry, I’ll leave now,” she said, preparing to turn away.
But before she could, Sylad—strusting with confidence–approachest her, her voice dripping with arrogance.
“Hacherl, you really have no shame. You’re trying to sneak in to ogle the stars, aren’t you? Don’t tell me it’s because Herbis been feeding you some false courage, making you think you’re some kind of goddess who can just walk up to anyone, as if you’re entitled.”

“You’re wasting your time. Sybil continued, her voice rising. Those actors won’t even look at you. They’re stars with millions of fans. They’d never even acknowledge someone like you. You’d need to be someone with real status and dignity–like me–before they’d bother with you. You? You’re nothing but a penniless nobody.”
Turning to the assistant standing nearby. Sybil ordered. “Hey, who’s inside? Go tell them I’d like to meet with them. Have them open the door”
The assistant, recognizing Sybil, immediately brightened and smiled, “Ah, Ms. Fox! Let me go check
for you right away!”
Sybil turned to Rachel with a smug grin, raising her eyebrows in triumph. “See? I told you. I can get them to open the door any time I want.”
Rachel unbothered, muttered under her breath, “Childish.”
She wasn’t interested in any stars, especially after everything that had happened with Bryant.
Before she could leave. Sybil’s voice rang out again, “Come on, Rachel, don’t walk away. Why not come meet the stars! After all, we’ve known each other for three years now. I can show you a little kindness and bring you in. You’ll never get another chance like this in your life.
Sybil grabbed Rachel’s arm, refusing to let go. She had come here to meet celebrities, and bringing Rachel along seemed like the perfect opportunity to rub her success in her face.
Rachel frowned at Sybil, frustrated by her interference. Just as she was about to push her away, the door to the lounge suddenly opened.
Out stepped a man–tall, slender, with a delicate, almost androgynous appearance. His pale complexion and graceful features almost made him appear feminine. He looked out into the hallway with an intense, almost manic gaze, and as he spotted Sybil, his expression lit up with pure joy. “Rocco, Sybil gasped, her eyes wide with excitement.
Rocco Flowers, the actor who had been a top contender for the Best Actor award, but had lost out to someone else. Even so, he was still one of the hottest male stars around
- me. You’re lucky to even be in
Sybil turned back to Rachel, smugly declaring, “I told you, with just a word from me, I can get the stars to come to me. the same room as them.”
But before she could finish, Rocco–his face full of adoration–moved past Sybil, and v without warning, he dropped to his knees before Rachel. The entire scene froze in shock. Sybil and the assistant stood there, utterly dumbfounded
“Rachel,” Rocco said, his voice trembling with emotion. “You came for me, didn’t you? I knew you wouldn’t abandon me, Rachel. I promise, I’ll treat you right from now on. I’ll never betray you again.”
And just like that, all eyes were on Rachel, as the room held its breath.
