Chapter 6
Herb, in the gray suit, with a tall, slender frame, walked past the crowd without even glancing at the person on the ground. He moved directly to Rachel’s side.
sn’t that Herb, the trusted assistant of the chairman from Sarratiup Group?”
“What’s his name again!“.
“Could this woman he the young lady of Sarrattop Group!”
Impossible. Sarration Group only
dly has four young masters. There’s no young lady. I’ve never heard of one
Callie, still on the floor, was completely ignored, as if she were invisible.
She looked up at Herb standing next to Rachel, her face flushing with both humiliation and shock as she realized Herb was looking at her like one might look at an insignificant insect.
Rachel smiled and glanced at Herb
- “You’re here”
He gave a gentlemanly smile and extended his arm, which Rachel naturally took. Together, they looked like a perfect couple, effortlessly drawing all eyes to them.
George’s gaze became intense as he watched the two, his expression growing darker.
At that moment. Callic spoke up. “How does Rachel know someone from Sarrattop Group? Could it be dut she only agreed to the divorce because she’s with this man now!“
George’s face shifted. He suddenly recalled what Rachel had said before. “Don’t stop me from finding my next partner.”
narrowed as he stared at the two of them, a sinking feeling creeping in He thought. Could this be the person she was talking about”
A cold smile spread across his lips. “Rachel, aren’t you going to introduce us?”
Rachel froze for a moment. When she turned to meet George’s pure, she immediately realized he must have misunderstood. Though she had known Herb since childhood, they were definitely not that kind of “close”
But she didn’t feel the need to explain. She simply smiled faintly, linking her arm through Herbs. “This is Mr. Rouse from Sarrattop Group. Don’t you know himn“”
Her indifferent tone only served to fan the flames of irritation in George.
They really look like a couple, don’t they?”
“Wow, they’re a perfect match–handsome guy, beautiful woman.
“They really suir each other.”
The people around them couldn’t help but whisper in admiration.
Callie’s eyes burned with jealousy. Just moments ago, she had thought Rachel came to this event slapped in the face. Rachel was here for the party, and she was with someone like Herb.

On one hand, it should be a relief that Rachel had moved on to another man–at least now she wouldn’t be clinging to George
But on the other hand, Callie couldn’t stand the fact that Rachel was with someone like Herb. She thought, Rachel is nothing but a fool. How can she possibly deserve lume
Callie forced a smile and turned to Rachel “How did you come to know Mr. Rowse, Ms Sarrau? Oh, I’m not being nosy, it’s just… surprising. After all, just yesterday you were saying how much you lived George, and now you’re suddenly with Mr. Rowe…
She threw a pointed glance at Herbs, sping to remind him that Rachel was nothing more than a woman willing to throw away her dignity for the take of climbing the social ladder.
Herbs shon Callie a disdainful glance and, in a tone as cold as ice, warned, “No matter who Rachel once loved, as long as she wants to come back, the doors of Sarrallop Group will always be open to her:
Callie’s face darkened. She thought, ‘How can Her speak so fondly of this woman! What gives him the right?
“Callie” George noured the shift in Callie’s imod and took a small step forward.
But Callie seemed oblivious to him, lost in her own frustration. She suddenly raised her voice, calling out to Herb, who was about to leave. “Rachel. if you’re already with Mr. Rowse, I’m happy for you.

“But if thats the case, you shouldn’t be wearing anything from the Fox family while you’re off chasing other men.”
Rachel looked down at her dress in surprise and let out a small laugh. “The Fox family’s! Are you blind?
“This is a Macester dress. There’s only one like it in the world. Rachel, you can barely make ends meet, so don’t pretend you bought this yourself.” Callie sneered, her voice dripping with mockery
Rachel couldn’t help but laugh. Macester was a brand she’d designed out of sheer boredom years ago. While it might not be easy to find elsewhere. her family had plenty of them.
“George, maybe you should keep a tighter leash on your woman” Rachel didn’t even spare Callie a glance. “How lacking are you that she thinks everything she sees belongs to her?
George glanced at Callie, a cold look in his eyes, but Callie, no longer her usual meek self, stared back at Rachel, her gaze sharp. “So you stole from the Fox family, and now you don’t want me to speak about it?
“Or are you afraid Mr. Howse will find out you’re just some used–up second–hand woman who can’t even aim higher anymore?”
Rachel’s expression darkened.
Before Calhe could react, slap–Rachel slapped her hard across the face. Callie’s face burned with humiliation.
Stunned, Callie stood frozen, her hand pressed to her aching cheek in disbelief. It took a few seconds for her to process what had just happened. Then, she turned to George, her eyes welling with tears as she cried out.
“I know you speak your mind, but don’t go around flapping your mouth like that.” Rachel’s voice was icy, mocking without hesitation. She ignored the surprised look on George’s face as she casually twisted her wrist, not even sparing him a glance.
In the past, when she’d been mistreated in the Fox family, she’d endured for George’s sake, always holding back. She thought, ‘Does Callie think I am some kind of wint?
Callie froze for a second, then realized what Rachel was implying, “Rachel, I was just telling the truth. How can you slap me for that? You
Fuming, Callie reached out and grabbed Rachel’s dress. This dress was stolen from the Fox family, to begin with. You can steal, but we can’t even speak the truth?”
“George” Callie turned to him, her voice thick with bitterness. “If you don’t control your woman, I’ll have to step in
Finally, Herb, unable to stand it any longer, grabbed Callie’s wrist with a firm hand.
George’s eyes went cold as he stepped in to restrain the out–of–control Callie. “Enough, Callie,” he said, his tone as sharp as ice.
Callie’s heart skipped a beat as the realization hit her. She thought, ‘What have I just done?”
