Chapter 6
I couldn’t help but laugh.
“So, the school does know that the students in Class Thirteen have had a rough time.”
The teacher’s face stiffened with embarrassment.
I let them squirm for a few seconds before continuing.
“But since you’ve already put it that way, let’s do it your way.
“However, I want the scholarship to be awarded under a different name–given as a reward to every student in Class Thirteen who has shown significant improvement, except for that privilege kid and his loyal followers.”
The school acted quickly.
Within days, the scholarship was distributed to Class Thirteen under the label of an “Outstanding Progress Award.
When the news reached the classroom, Sophie and Jenna were visibly shaken.
“I don’t want this money.”
Sophie’s eyes were red as she looked at me.
“He should have been forced to apologize and admit his mistakes. If we had arrived a second later, your hand-”
“Don’t worry, I planned everything–the exact moment the first bell rang, the timing of the honor roll announcement- I made sure it all lined up so that no matter what happened, I wouldn’t get hurt.
“Besides, even if you hadn’t shown up, do you really think they could’ve done anything to me?”
People who spent their whole lives in comfort were always the most terrified of losing it all.
Jenna, the other student who broke into the top ten rankings with me this time, stayed silent.
Instead, she wordlessly handed me her scholarship card.
I pushed it back toward her.
