Chapter 16
In this life, knowing there was no way out, he took all the blame upon himself, ensuring that Stacy walked away
free.
But aside from keeping her life, she lost everything,
That afternoon, I stepped out of the research institute with an umbrella in hand.
Out of nowhere, a shadow lunged toward me.
I barely managed to dodge in time before finally getting a clear look at Stacy’s face.
She collapsed onto the rain–soaked pavement, eyes burning with resentment.
“Why?!” she demanded.
“In our past life, you did nothing, yet you were the one he could never forget. This time, I became just like you–I made myself irreplaceable in his heart.
“But why? Why would you go and destroy him? Destroy the entire Scott family?

Smack!
I slapped her across the face.
The rain swallowed the sharp sound as I threw my umbrella aside and grabbed her by the jaw, forcing her to look

“Because the one who deserved to die was never me.
“Did I destroy the Lowe family? No, it was their own doing. They dug their own graves and brought their own destruction upon themselves.
“And your so–called prince charming? What era do you think this is? The very concept of a ‘prince‘ should have been buried alongside the remnants of a decaying past.”
I leaned in, my voice steady and cold.
“Stacy, don’t you get it? You were too stupid. Too small–minded. You lived two lives, and yet all you ever cared about was being a man’s ‘one true love.‘
“Do you even realize what someone with knowledge of the future could accomplish? You could have saved an entire class of students and ensured an entire generation’s future.
“You could have propelled national technology ahead by five years, secured breakthroughs that would change the world.
“You could have prevented the rise of a cancerous empire, cutting off immeasurable losses before they ever happened.
