“If it was up to me, you’d be a nun,” Micheal said.
Dad suddenly walked in, looking from me in Micheal’s arms to Micheal’s grip on me. “I thought you’d stop fighting when you got older.
Micheal set me down, and I stumbled to my feet, fixing my clothes. “She started it.”
I glared at him. “He embarrassed me in front of Daniel, Dad,”
Micheal added casually, “I told Daniel I’d rip his balls off if he didn’t treat her right”
I stared at Micheal. He hadn’t told me that part.
Dad smiled sofily and touched my cheek. Then he patted Michael’s back and said “Good job.”
I couldn’t believe them “You’re both impossible.” I said rolling my eyes with little smile
The next day as I was getting ready for the wedding, Micheal appeared at the door, dressed sharply in a black suit and blue tie. “You clean up well,” I said, though my chest tightened at the thought of him not being around once I moved in with Daniel
“You look incredible.” he said.
He leaned against the doorframe, his hands in his pockets. “It’s going to be strange without you.”
I tried to keep it light. “Salvia will keep you busy”
“It’s not the same.”
“You’ll be fine. You’ll get married soon, and the Outfit will keep you busy”
He sighed and looked at the Rolex on his wrist, a gift from Dad. “We need to go. The ceremony starts in forty five minutes, and it’s a long drive.”
I nodded, taking one last look in the mirror before following him out. The anticipation was building. Soon, everything would change.
The church was out of the city. I had wanted the wedding to be in a renovated barn in the countryside, surrounded by trees, not in the city.
I nodded and checked my reflection again before taking his arm. Together, we left the suite and made our way down to the hotel lobby. People were looking at me, and I had to admit, I liked the attention. The dress had cost a fortune, and it was only fair that as many people as possible would see it. This wedding was the biggest social event for the Outfit in years.

POV
The sound of the car’s engine vibrated beneath me, steady as my pulse quickened with anticipation.
“Is everything ready?” I asked, my voice calm even though fire burned beneath the surface.

“Don’t play dumb,” he said. “This is about her, isn’t it? Dante’s niece. Milene.”
I didn’t answer right away, letting his words settle in the air. Finally, I smiled. “You’re sharper than you look.”
Tate’s jaw clenched. “She’s innocent, Nicolas. She’s not the one who wronged you. She’s just a pawn in their world”
“She’s a product of that world,” I replied, my tone cold. “Raised to be their perfect bride, a symbol of loyalty. But she’s walking into a den of wolves.

Turning my attention back to the hotel ahead of us, I watched as Milene’s family stepped outside. Her parents surrounded her, their expressions masks of pride and control.
*Somewhere inside, I murmured, my voice low, “she’s dressed in white, playing the role of a perfect bride. But by the end of today, she’ll be mine.”
