Linda had been suspicious all along, doubting whether Jazlyn had someone powerful to back her up. After all, Jazlyn’s confidence was unnervingly steady, completely devoid of any guilt or nervousness. But as the minutes dragged on with no sign of anyone showing up, Linda grew impatient.
Unable to sit still any longer, she abruptly stood up. “You’re bluffing, aren’t you, Jazlyn? I underestimated you. If you don’t have someone, just admit it. Do you think putting on this kind of act is appropriate?”
With a dramatic wave of her hand, she ordered, “She’s messing with us. Make sure to teach her a proper lesson!”
The manager, already embarrassed and angry, snapped. He couldn’t believe he had been played by a woman.
“Drag her out of here!” he barked.
At that very moment, a voice cut through the chaos.
“Stop! All of you!”
A tall, imposing figure stepped into the room, his presence instantly commanding attention. His sharp, striking features were perfectly complemented by a pair of piercing amber eyes, their depth and intensity freezing everyone in their tracks. His demeanor radiated power, and the natural authority he carried seemed to make the air in the room heavier.
Kingsley?
Every gaze turned to him in unison, disbelief written across their faces. For a moment, nobody could react. They simply stared at him, as if time had stopped.
Jazlyn’s eyes flickered with a mix of relief and disbelief. For a brief second, she had truly thought he wouldn’t show here he was. He had come.
- up. But
Without hesitation, she shoved past the security guards and, under the stunned gazes of everyone present, threw herself into Kingsley’s arms.
“Honey, you’re finally here!” she cried, her voice dripping with grievance. “Look at them! They were bullying me, and these filthy security guards dared to lay their hands on me. You never treat me like that, but they had the audacity to! Can you believe it?”
Kingsley stood frozen for a second, his anger from earlier now mixed with a surge of disbelief. Her exaggerated act was so over–the–top that it nearly made him choke. The crocodile tears, the dramatic tone–it was all too much.
Clinging to his chest, she continued her theatrical sobbing, leaving him with no escape.
“Uh… Kingsley gritted his teeth, his fury redirected at the group responsible for this mess.
“Who did it?” His voice was cold and sharp, cutting through the silence like a blade.
Linda shuddered involuntarily. She couldn’t believe what she was seeing. Julian had told her that Jazlyn’s husband was some wealthy old man. But the man standing before her was Kingsley.
How could Jazlyn, of all people, end up with someone like him?
Linda couldn’t accept it. She had finally managed to humiliate Jazlyn, yet the tables were turning before her eyes. Jazlyn suddenly seemed to have the upper hand again.
Kingsley’s voice, deep and authoritative, interrupted her spiraling thoughts. “No one wants to answer?”
Linda quickly adopted a pitiful expression. “Mr. Zinn, we didn’t know Jazlyn was your woman. Honestly, with how many men she’s been involved with, it’s hard to keep track.”

Her gaze shifted to Kingsley, disbelief still clouding her features. Was this man Jazlyn’s husband? It seemed too surreal to be
true.
Emily couldn’t help but wonder if Jazlyn had pulled some strings to get Kingsley here.
Jazlyn, noticing their reactions, couldn’t suppress a cold smirk. These people were clever, twisting the situation to slander her even now. But unfortunately for them, their words were wasted.
If Kingsley were truly her husband, he might care about the accusations. But Jazlyn wasn’t Freya, and Kingsley would never concern himself with her private affairs.
Linda wasn’t done yet, though. “It’s true,” she pressed. “Back in school, Jazlyn always had a crowd of men chasing after her. Professors, even teachers–they all adored her. She barely needed to study and still got top grades. With a private life like hers, who knows how she ended up connected to you?”
Jazlyn’s smirk deepened as she turned to Kingsley, her expression morphing into one of exaggerated innocence and grievance.
“Honey, you don’t believe them, do you?” she said, her voice trembling with just the right amount of vulnerability. “They’re jealous of our closeness and are trying to tarnish my name. After all, the man they could only dream of being with dotes on me alone.”
