Chapter 5 Meeting His First Love

“What are you doing?” Jazlyn snapped, turning around angrily. Freya stood before her, looking like a winner, her gaze full of disdain for Jazlyn. The saleswoman quickly lowered her head respectfully. “Mrs. Zinn, it’s rare to see you shopping alone today.” Freya smiled sweetly and sneered. “This woman is a known scammer, a worthless beggar. Where did she get all these things? Don’t let her fool you.” The saleswoman’s face twisted as she looked at Jazlyn. “I knew it! Stay here, I’m calling the police!” Jazlyn’s expression hardened. “Just because she says they’re fake, you’re going to believe her? You’re not blind, are you? You can see for yourself. Anyone who wants to check can come and inspect them. These are all real!” The saleswoman scoffed. “She’s Mrs. Zinn. Do you know Kingsley Zinn, the wealthiest man in Clarethia? I saw him shopping with her once. If I can’t believe Mrs. Zinn, who can I believe? Do you think I’ll trust someone like you?” Freya stood proudly, her smugness growing. Jazlyn gritted her teeth, trying to leave with the items still in her hands, but Freya stepped into her path again. She looked at Jazlyn with a contemptuous smile as she said, “Jazlyn, I heard you’re just the substitute Kingsley picked after me. You look so much worse than I do. No wonder he wanted to divorce you the moment I came back.” Jazlyn’s heart ached, but she forced a stubborn smile on her face. She knew she had lost to this woman, but she refused to let herself appear humble and defeated in front of her. Freya didn’t stop, continuing her cruel words, “I also heard your family is bankrupt now. Even Kingsley doesn’t want you anymore. It’s so pathetic. No wonder you’re resorting to selling designer clothes.” Jazlyn could no longer hold back. She turned around to face Freya directly. “You came back at just the right time,” she said coldly. “I’ve been sleeping with him for three years, and I’m tired of him. You can take over now.” Freya’s face twisted in anger. “You—” Jazlyn smiled as she stepped closer. “Did you think I married him just for pillow talk?” She chuckled. “I have to say, though, I’m better than you in some ways. You didn’t teach him anything useful, but I did. He’s learned a lot from me. I’m sure you’ve noticed the difference in his skills. Are you satisfied with how he performs now?” Freya’s anger flared as she realized what Jazlyn was implying. Had Kingsley been touching Jazlyn for three years? Her face flushed with embarrassment and rage. Jazlyn’s smile remained calm. At that moment, Freya suddenly doubled over, clutching her stomach and letting out a sharp cry of pain. “Ah, it hurts!” she exclaimed. Kingsley appeared in an instant, moving quickly to her side. Before Jazlyn could react, he shoved her forcefully aside. She stumbled and hit the ground, feeling the sting in her knees. As she looked up, her hair disheveled, she saw Kingsley supporting Freya with a concerned look. “Are you alright?” he asked, his voice full of worry. “I’m fine, just a slight stomach ache,” Freya replied, her eyes brimming with tears, no longer the confident and arrogant woman she had been moments before. Kingsley turned to Jazlyn, his face now cold and harsh. “Jazlyn, you’re asking for trouble!” he snapped.
