Chapter 30
Xavier’s brows, furrowed, giving him an even
can even more menacing appearance.
“Sell” He practically hissed the word, his glare at Karen filled with a rage that seemed almost demonic. “What on earth are you talking about? Yasmine isn’t something you can just sell
At this moment, a sudden rush of footsteps echoed through the quiet hallway. Alaric and his team had arrived.
The local police had Devin in their grasp. The sight of the state authorities made the officers‘ hearts race. They figured their year–end review was in the bag.
“Looks like I got here a little late.” Alaric said, his voice cutting through the silence.
At the sight of Devin being held back, Karen lost it. Her scream was sharp and piercing. “Get your hands off my husband! Have you lost your minds! We’re Yasmine’s family. Why are you arresting us?”
A stern–looking older man in a uniform gestured firmly. “Arrest them all, he commanded. “Families and friends can be the source of the worst tragedies
Karen opened her mouth to speak, but Devin began to tremble, cutting her off. “Q–Quiet,” he stammered, his eyes wide with recognition as he took in the old man’s epaulettes. They bore the insignia of the state, and these people were here for him.
Yasmine, not really in the mood to worry about the chaos around them, leaned on Xavier, looking really sick. She whispered to him weakly. “Xavier, I think I’m gonna vomit.”
Then suddenly, she lost control, throwing up violently and sobbing in pain. “Oh, I’m so sorry” she said, her face getting paler by the minute until she finally passed out.
Xavier’s fury was brewing. He didn’t say a word, but his stare at Devin was colder than ice. It was a look that said more than any yelling could.
“Get a doctor, now!” Alaric urged pushing the person beside him towards the task
Yasmine was swiftly taken away by the medical staff. In the meantime, Devin and his family were seated on a bench in the hallway. temporarily held there
Devin wiped his face with his hand, his nerves slowly steadying. We’re Yasmine’s family. I can’t figure out why you’d suspect us of anything”
“Save it,” was the curt response he received.
“I need to know who reported this to the police, Devin continued. “Yasmine was entrusted to us by her grandfather. Is that a crime?”
He had his suspicions about Barnaby, thinking maybe the guy was just after some extra cash, and that was why he’d gone to the cops, hoping to make a bigger profit.
“You’re wondering who called the police?” The officer finally met Devin’s gaze. “It was those two young people.”
“Who are- Devin started to ask.
“Not just them. There were countless viewers, the officer interrupted.
Devon paused. “What does that mean?” be stammered, a sinking feeling creeping in. “What do you mean by countless… viewers!”
The young offerr’s expression was serious, radiating a strong sense of justice. “During a show recording. Yasmine disappeared right in front of all those viewers. Everyone is worried about her. Do you understand?”
Devin was left in shock. His wife and son turned pale
At that moment, Evan approached with a spring in his step and asked, “How’s the little girl doing?”
“The doctors with her now, came the reply.
“Oh” Evan said, his gaze shifting as he sauntered over to Devin

“It’s you again!” Devin said angrily.
“Yes, that’s me,” Evan replied with a grin. Do you know who those two young g men who just walked by are?”
Devin’s face hardened, his glare full of disdain.
Evan didn’t care about Devin’s attitude. He went on. “One is named Xavier Sanchez, and the other is Alaric Kendrick”
Devin’s eyes met his wife’s, a shared look of recognition passing between them.
“One is the heir to Sanchez Group, and the other to Sparkle Park Mall” Evan paused for a moment, then said. Thank you”
Thank you?” Karen was momentarily stunned. “What does he mean?”
Devin came to a realization, instantly furious. “He’s actually thanking us for giving him a chance to connect with the rich guys!” he exclaimed
Devin’s chest churned with anger and frustration, driving him crazy. Now they finally knew who Xavier Sanchez was–the person Yasmine had mentioned–but it was too late to do anything about it.
Damn it! Why didn’t anyone tell us? Why didn’t Barnaby say anything? Devin was seething inside.
“No, that can’t be true. He’s just saying that to get under our skin… Karen muttered, trying to convince herself.
“Could a lie cause such a scene!” Devin countered, a cold shiver running down his spine.
In another room, the doctor stood up, his expression grave. The symptoms indicate poisoning. Fortunately, it wasn’t a large dose. We need to schedule a stomach pump right away
“Poisoning?” Xavier and Alaric both rose to their feet in unison.
The elderly man nearby spoke with a solemn tone. This case is taking a grave turn.”
Soon after, a police officer approached Devin and his family, his voice cold and firm. Take them directly to the station. There’s no need to wait. They’re suspected of attempted murder.
Devin’s face paled as he stammered, “What? That’s absurd! How could we possibly-”
His protest was cut short as he was swiftly escorted away. In the hallway, Karen’s enraged shouting at Barnaby echoed loudly.
Meanwhile, police cars raced towards Lexcrity, stirring up the entire village.
“Have they found Yasmine!” one villager speculated.
“Or perhaps she turned up dead somewhere, another chimed in
“The car went that way. They’re going after Barnaby, someone else shouted.
Soon, Barnaby heard the sirens. He quickly got out of bed and grabbed his cane. His mind raced with thoughts of whether Yasmine had been found and reported him to the police.
Barnaby hesitated for a moment, but then he hurriedly made his way with his cane towards the back door that led to the pig pen. Just as he reached it, the two diligent bodyguards feeding Yasmine’s pigs looked up.
Where do you think you’re going. Barnaby?” one of the bodyguards asked, his broad shoulders and square face striking an intimidating figure that was enough to scare Barnaby
Blocked on one side, Barnaby heard the police coming in through the other door. “Barnaby! Is Barnaby here? We need you to come
In a desperate move, Barnaby threw has cane aside and dramatically collapsed onto the ground. “Oh, oh! I’m in so much pain. I can’t go anywhere.

Chapter 30
The young offers exchanged glances, and then simply picked Barnaby up. It finally dawned on him that his petty tricks were no match for the real power of the law.
Everyone who needed to be dealt with was taken care of. Meanwhile, Yasmine had just finished a stomach pump procedure. Already recovering from a high fever and having eaten nothing, she looked even worse after the ordeal.
Erica was administering an IV to her, looking at her with sympathy. Just a gentle press and her skin turns red; she’s so frail. These people are truly heartless”
Xavier wished he could capture this moment, so that those online who were still speaking ill of Yasmine could see the reality. He composed himself and gently tucked Yasmine in, ensuring she was comfortable.
Yasmine stirred, her eyes fluttering open sleepily. “Am I dreaming?” she asked, her voice even softer and more delicate than usual.
“It’s not a dream, Yasmine. I’ve come to rescue you. Xavier reassured her, his tone gentle,
Alaric thought Xavier’s remark was a bit self–centered. “Yasmine,” he interjected, wanting to be part of the conversation. I’ve been looking for you too.”
But Yasmine’s gaze didn’t shift to Alaric. Her eyes were blurry, yet she tried to maintain her focus. “Xavier,” she said softly, “I don’t know how to write your name” As she spoke, tears began to fall. I couldn’t find you.”
Xavier’s sharp eyebrows softened, and his eyes filled with tears. In a voice rough with emotion, he said. “I’ll teach you tomorrow.”
Yasmine gave a weak nod and then drifted back into a deep sleep.
Alaric looked serious as he spoke. “With a temper like yours, it’s surprising someone’s so fond of you. What’s wrong with this girl?”
“Alaric, to hell with you, Xavier muttered under his breath, keeping his voice low so as not to disturb Yasmine’s rest
