In our third year of marriage, Landon and I welcomed our daughter, Alicia Shore.
Not long after she was born, Hansen sent over an extravagant number of expensive gifts.
I asked Landon what she thought about it.
He was still confident as always, but he wouldn’t be so generous either. “Our daughter doesn’t need any of this. Donate it to an orphanage.”
He clicked his tongue and spat, “Just look at him. He’s already so old, but he’s refusing to get married. He just spends his days fixated on someone else’s wife. He’s just torturing himself.”
I couldn’t help but laugh. “Why do you care about someone else’s business?”
For some reason, that made Landon happy.
In front of all the household staff, he lifted me up and spunime in circles. “Christine, I really liked hearing you say that. Can you say it again?”
1 said, “Say what? Put me down first. I’m getting dizzy…”

Landon refused to let me go. He sat down with me still in his arms, kissing me again and again. “That sentence just now. Why do you care about someone else’s business?!
I felt amused, but my heart ached a bit.
Linda had once told me in secret that the two years after I graduated from university were the two worst years of Landon’s life.
But he never once brought it up after we got together.
He never showed me even the slightest bit of sadness.
I repeated just to please him, “Why do you care about someone else’s business? We just have to live our own lives: well.”
Then, I wrapped my hands around his neck and kissed the tip of his reddened ear, whispering softly, “Honey, our daughter is two months old now. Let’s go to bed early tonight.”
Hansen’s POV.
When Christine’s daughter turned three, their little family of three returned to Gold City for a visit. They stayed for several months.
We still had many mutual friends, and they practically gathered together every day.
Naturally, I didn’t attend any of them.
But after every gathering, I couldn’t stop myself from asking about her.
They said that Christine had gone to study overseas for two years after getting married.
During those two years, Landon would tirelessly travel back and forth without a single complaint.
After that, Christine returned to Harbor City and started her own magazine as the editor–in–chief. Landon supported every single one of her decisions unconditionally.
