Jason still had work to do, so he couldn’t accompany me. I just threw on some casual clothes and didn’t bother with makeup.
I walked alone into a high–end brand clothing store and picked out a few dresses.
“Hello, may I try these on?”
A saleswoman looked me up and down, her gaze seeming to hold a hint of disdain and contempt.
I saw her name tag, which read “Jennifer,” her name.
“Miss, are you sure you want to try this one on?” Her voice sounded sweet but with an almost imperceptible mocking tone. “This is one of our newest and most expensive styles. It doesn’t really seem to suit you.”
“Why would you say that?” I felt a pang in my chest and my expression darkened.
I wasn’t someone unfamiliar with the world, but this kind of service, attitude was difficult to accept.
“Didn’t they teach you how to speak during training?”
“What does that have to do with you?”
I was about to leave when another saleswoman approached me. Her face was friendly, and she called out to me, “Miss, sorry about that, she’s just like that. Don’t take it personally. You can try on the clothes, the fitting rooms are over there.”
“Okay.” I smiled and followed her. “What’s your name? I’ll come to you when I shop for clothes in the future.”
“That’s great!” Shannon smiled even more brightly when she heard that.
Just then, I noticed Judith had entered the store and started talking to the saleswoman.
“Show which dress did that person want to try on.”
“Ma’am, you’re finally here, we’ve been waiting for you.” Jennifer’s attitude immediately shifted, her demeanor becoming warm and welcoming.
“That one’s already in her hands. These are all new arrivals, they’re all great styles. Please take a look,” she said enthusiastically.
