She probably guessed I had been married before, and looked at me with some prejudice.
“I’m leaving. You can stay here if you want.
She seemed a little younger than me, with a sweet smile on her face. She wore a pale pink jacket paired with white little shoes, and she looked lively and cute.
She and I were completely different styles.
Just as I was stunned, Jason came out from inside. When he saw me standing at the door, he quickened his pace.
His expression seemed a bit anxious, as though he wanted to explain something.
“She’s just my sister.”
But my emotions were extremely complicated at that moment.
I glared at him. “Sister? Your real sister or someone you just see as your sister?”
“My step–sister. We don’t have the same parents.”
“So, you mean the kind you just see as your sister?” I turned my head away, my voice full of disappointment. “Don’t talk to me again.”
After saying that, I slammed the door shut, leaving Jason outside.
I sat on the sofa, and my phone vibrated. It was a message from Jason. “Please don’t be mad. She really is my sister. My mom got remarried, and she’s my stepfather’s daughter.”
“All lies. I’ll never trust you again.”
