Chapter 13 Mom’s Wolf Spirit
Susan’s POV:

I clutched the bed sheets tightly, my ears straining to catch the mysterious voice. The ward was empty, not a shadow in sight, yet the voice persisted.
“Who are you?” I whispered, a mix of fear and curiosity swirling inside me.
The voice sounded gentle, almost playful, like someone trying to soothe a child. “I’m your godmother. Come on, call me godmother.”
I wrinkled my nose, unimpressed. “I don’t have a godmother.”
The voice hesitated as if caught off guard by my blunt response.
I stole a glance at the empty table beside the bed. No one was there, yet I couldn’t shake the feeling that something–or someone–was present just beyond my sight..
After a moment of silence, the voice spoke again, sounding a bit defeated.
“I’m truly your godmother. When your mother was still alive, she asked me to take you in as my apprentice.”
Upon hearing that, a wave of resistance surged through me. I gripped the bed sheets tightly. “My mother would never do that.
She would never hand me over to someone else. She would never leave me behind.
The voice went quiet, and the ward fell into silence. I lowered my head, a bitter feeling welling up inside.
After a while, the voice returned with a hint of helplessness. “Your mother’s name was Jenny, and you’re Susan. See! I know that.”
I pursed my lips, my voice barely above a whisper. “Everybody knows that.”
The voice let out a sigh as if at a loss. “Alright, you’re not easy to fool, are you?”
I stayed silent, feeling a mix of grievance and distrust.
She wasn’t truly my godmother. Why should I believe her?
“Don’t overthink it,” she said gently. “Actually, I’m your mother’s wolf spirit.”
Mom’s wolf spirit?
1 froze, staring in the direction of the voice. Though nothing was there, I couldn’t help but ask, “What’s your name?”
“I’m Carsyn Justice, a wolf spirit even stronger than an Alpha,” she said with a hint of pride.
“Carsyn?” I repeated softly, though I couldn’t help but doubt her in my mind.
Stronger than an Alpha? She sure liked to brag
Ignoring my skepticism, she continued, “It’s not surprising you haven’t heard of me. Your mother never called on me much. Only when she was dying did she break our symbiotic bond with her life force and fill the emptiness in your soul. Even though you’re an Omega, with my help, you can one day become an Alpha–maybe even surpass an Alpha!”
Mom…
I barely registered Carsun’s words. My thoughts were already Inst in memories of Mom. She wasn’t always mentally stable

After Mom died, no one cared about me, whether I cried or hurt.
I learned to read Dad’s moods, trying my best not to be a burden, but my grandparents still didn’t like me.
Cynthia would secretly hurt me, and nobody stood up for me.
All because I was just an Omega without a wolf spirit.
“The seal,” Carsyn said softly. “When your mother broke our bond, her life was already fading. I became weak and would have disappeared at any moment. I had to seal myself away, resting and recovering in your soul. If your life hadn’t been in danger a few days ago, I might never have awakened…”
So, the voice that told me to bite off the tattoo on my hand–that was her?
I raised my hand. The skin had healed, but the tattoo was gone.
Carsyn fell silent for a long time before she spoke again, her voice gentle. “Be good. I’ll protect you from now on.”
pursed my lips and turned my face away, saying nothing.
I didn’t trust her, but a strange warmth bloomed in my chest.
It was as if she had softly patted my head and whispered, “Rest now. I’ll be back. Consider this a gift from me…”
A warmth spread over my wrist. When I looked down, a bracelet made of wolf fangs sat snugly around it. I had no idea when it had appeared. My fingers brushed against it, a strange feeling rising in my heart–something I couldn’t quite name.
After a while, the ward fell completely silent. Her voice was gone.
I opened my eyes, looking around, but saw nothing-
It felt like she had retreated into my soul, where I couldn’t reach her.
Yet, for some reason, I felt warm all over, and the pain had faded.
I held onto the wolf fang bracelet, my emotions tangled.
Was the voice claiming to be Mom’s wolf spirit real or just another lie?
