Chapter 19 We’re Family
Laurence’s POV:
A wave of Eason’s pheromones, filled with rage and hostility, drifted from the backyard.
The remaining members of the Grayclaw Tribe looked unsettled, like prisoners on death row waiting for their fate.
I paid them no mind. With so few of them left, Eason alone could easily tear them all apart.
Soon, Susan and Eason returned, carrying a parrot.
“Let’s go home.”
Leaning on my cane, I took a final look around the villa.
It was where my beloved daughter had lived before her death. Had she been well–fed and rested here?
When she was hurting, did anyone care for her?
Had she wandered through that backyard or perhaps often gazed at the tree outside the window?
A sharp pain gripped my heart.
Frank’s POV:
The scent of codar mixed with a wild animal’s musk hit me, and I felt the fur on my neck bristle.
What was Eason doing? Could the Silvermoon werewolves unleash such an intense pheromone pressure at will?

The power radiating from him was that of a top predator My body tensed, cold sweat trickling down my back into the fur at my tailbone.
D*mn it. I was an Alpha, too–why did his presence make my legs feel weak?
Thankfully, Susan and Eason reappeared without any other incidents.
I exhaled in relief, but a nagging worry gnawed at me. Why hadn’t Cynthia come out? She was always so good at charming. guests. Was she unwell?
As soon as I saw them, I stepped forward to greet them. The Silvermoon werewolves had been ignoring us, so my only chance to connect was through Susan.
She was still young, and I thought I could easily win her over.
Dad
put on a flattering smile. “You all are something else. You caught it so quickly,”
I forced a grin, trying to sound gentle as I spoke to Susan, “You like parpots? Sorry, I didn’t know that. How about I get you a whole bunch of them?”
As the tribe’s Alpha, I had always considered myself generous to my Omega daughter.
But Susan just stared at me with cold, distant eyes, clutching her necklace and the parrot tightly. Her gaze sent a chill through me. There was no warmth–only a frigid detachment.
I realized then that she didn’t want a parrot.
Since her mother’s death, all she had ever wanted was a hug from me. Instead, I ignored her, scolded her, and even hit her.

I was stunned. Instantly, a rush of anger boiled up inside me.

How could that brat humiliate me in front of everyone? If not for Eason’s menacing presence, I would have ripped out her fragile throat right then.
She said she didn’t want me.
That ungrateful brat. The moment she saw how strong the Silvermoon Alliance was, she turned her back on us.
What a traitor!
I forced my expression to remain calm, lowering my voice. “Susan!”
I thought I was holding back. In the past, if she had spoken to me like that, she would have been a pile of broken bones by
now.
But with the Silvermoon werewolves watching, I couldn’t afford to lose my temper.
Mom sighed beside me, putting on a false show of concern. “Susan, your father might have been strict, but you can’t say such things! How could you say you don’t want your father?”
Dad tried to lighten the mood, smiling awkwardly. “She’s still a kid. Why don’t we go eat together? We’ll give you a warm welcome!”
I ignored Susan’s cold stare, chiming in right away. “Yes! We’re so glad to have you all here as our family. Jenny never even mentioned you.”
We kept talking, playing up the idea that we were all one big family.
I even threw Jenny’s name into the conversation, hoping to tug at their heartstrings.
But suddenly, Yael lost his cool.
His golden eyes burned like a blood moon, and his sharp fangs were inches from my throat.
“Enough” You all are so shameless! Family? You’re no family of ours!
Panic overtook me, and I shifted into my wolf form. But even then, I couldn’t break free of his iron
Bang!
My head collided with the iron gate of the villa, the sound reverberating like a thunderclap,
The steel bent under the force, deep dents marking where my head had struck.
