Chapter 22
Jessica continued staying at Selena’s place
When Samuel heard about the drama between the three of e, he couldn’t help but comment, “Man, you’ve really potten yourself into a mess.”
Tjust shrugpol, feeling a bit helpless, and decided to ask him about Cameron.
Samuel, always the gossip, wasted no time in immediately making a call to get the scoop. When he hung up, his face lit up with the sing satisfaction of someone who thought he had it all figured out.
1 rolled my eyes. “Stop acting like a weirdo. If you have something to say, just spit it out.”
“I think Jessica plans to drag this out. As long as she’s in the picture, you and Selena will never get the peace you need to actually be together,” Samuel replied, then smirked. “But I’ve got a brilliant idea to make it so that she will leave Selena’s place of her own accord!!
I scoffed. “Stop showing off. What’s your plan?”
“I just found out that Cameron is coming back soon. I’ll set something up for you to make Jessica throw herself back into his arms.” Samuel looked almost smug, like he was some kind of relationship genius. “You know how it
first love is like a magnetic pull. No matter how far apart they go, everything else falls away when they show
1 shot him a skeptical look, half convinced he was messing with me. But three days later, Samuel invited me to the opening party of a friend’s music–themed restaurait.
I didn’t expect to run straight into Jessica. She was standing by the bar, a drink in her hand. She opened her mouth like she was about to say something, but then just… froze.
Samuel pushed a glass of liquor into my hand, slinging his arm around my shoulders as he led me away
“Don’t bother with her,” he said, nodding toward Jessica. “Cameron’s here too. They’ll get back together soon.
I turned my head and saw Cameron. Dressed in a grey suit, he was walking toward Jessica. She stood there with her eyes slightly lowered, looking lost in thought and not moving.
The old me would probably have been on edge, my fingers trembling in an unbearable mix of hope and heartbreak. I would have been suffocating from the bitter feeling of knowing the girl I cared about with all my heart was still hung up on another guy. But now, the feeling wasn’t as strong.
I didn’t want to watch them, so I followed Samuel and his friends to the card table. A few rounds in, I had lost a decent amount of cash. Irritated, I excused myself and stepped out into the hallway for a spoke.
As I lit the cigarette, I observed the people gathered in the room, my mind drifting back to the way Jessica and Cameron had clung to each other. It didn’t matter how affectionate she had been to me in the past month. The moment that man appeared, all that was left of her resolve grumbled into dust.
Her childhood sweetheart would always be her top choice!
As the cigarette burned down, I put it out and got ready to head back inside. Just as I was about to walk in, my phone buzzed with a call from an unknown number. I hesitated for a moment before answering
It was Jessica, who sounded frantic and desperate.
“S–Sebastian, help! Cameron… he’s lost it!”
I heard the sound of a crash, followed by the flat tone of a comected call.
