Chapter 24
“Like I said, she’s just a worthless…”
Cameron didn’t get to finish his sentence.
I was faster than him. As my fist slammed into his stomach, I yanked his tie with my other hand, pulling him. closer. My hand was steady, my knuckles white, every muscle in my arm taut with rape.
I spoke in a cold tone, warning, “Watch your mouth.
on grunted, his breathcoming in gasps as he stumbled back against the wall and slid down. He curled in on himself, one hand clutching his stomach. My foot landed firmly on his shoulder as I stared down at him, my eyes. icy and unforgiving. Slowly, I applied more pressure, watching as pain twisted his face.
When a gentle person got angry, it was the most terrifying thing
“She’s been dealing with you for so many years. As a person, the one thing you should never betray is a sincere heart. I hope you two part ways peacefully. If I ever see you hit her again, I won’t be so kind! And no matter how bad she is, a rotten person like you has no right to talk about her like that.”
Watching me in stunned silence, Jessica slowly rose and reached out to me. But just before her hand could touch mine, I stepped back.
“Jessica, I hope you understand that I didn’t help you because I still have feelings for you. I’ve told you before- we’re done. This is me paying you back for everything you did for me. Don’t come looking for me again. And don’t bother me or Lena. No one stays stuck in the past. I hope you’ll take care of yourself.”
Tears of pain filled Jessica’s eyes as she looked into mine. She seemed to be searching for any hint of deception in my gaze. But sadly, she found nothing. All she saw was the reflection of my eyes, once full of her, now filled with someone else.
“This is the last time I’m helping you, and it also serves as a goodbye to the past. From now on, I won’t care about what you do,” I declared firmly.
Jessica bit her lip tightly, her expression a mix of pain and pure fury. She probably still couldn’t believe that after all these years, the person she once scorned would one day leave her without looking back.
Her voice was hoarse as she shouted, “Sebastian Grant! Do you even know the difference after all these years?”
“What?”
She scoffed. “After all these years, have you figured it out? Do you know If what you felt for me was love or just gratitude? If you really loved me, why didn’t you ever get jealous when I was with Cameron? For five years, you’ve been kind to whoever I’ve been kind to, and you’ve been nice to whoever was nice to me. So, I’m asking you again. Have you really figured it out?”
There was a hint of bitterness and mockery in her last sentence.
No, that wasn’t it.
I shook my head and said, “But that was all I could give. All my feelings, everything I had left after fighting through the thorns of life, I gave it all to you. As long as you were good to me, I would have loved you forever. Someday, I would have understood what it meant to truly love you. But you never gave me the chance. You shut all the doors on ine,”
Jessica wanted me to cave in. She wanted me to grow soft so she could control me again.
With that thought, I turned to leave.

But suddenly, Cameron, who had been crouched in the corner, let out a laugh.
“Since we’re being honest now, let me share a little more gossip! Actually, I knew you back in high school, but you didn’t know me. I know a lot about you. You know why Jessica helped you when you were bullied? Because of a bet with her friends!”
