The one who was entangled with Kathy in the car the day I first met Brad.
And now, as if on cue, Kathy walked in through the door and slapped me hard across the face.
Her voice dripped with venom. “Dennis, it’s this little wretch. If not for her, I’d already be married to Brad and helping you seize control of the Landon Corporation.”
Dennis Pots.
I’d heard of him before. In Pastix City, where powerful families abound, the Landon and Pots families stood above the rest.
Unlike Brad, the elusive prince of the Landon family, Dennis was a notorious playboy, often making headlines alongside famous actresses.
Now it all made sense–Kathy’s pursuit of Brad had been for Dennis’s sake.
I had to admit, Dennis was striking. His delicate, almost feminine features were the type that women often found irresistible. But as he gripped my chin and gazed at me with his alluring, predatory eyes, I felt nothing but a chill of revulsion.
“My dear Kathy,” he said with a sly smile, “you should have a bit more compassion. This little beauty is quite the rare find. It would be such a waste to ruin her ”
Kathy shot me a hateful glare before pouting up at Dennis, her voice honeyed and cloying. “Have you taken a liking to her?”
Dennis’s eyes remained locked on mine as he gave me a lecherous wink. “Hey pretty, would you do me a favor? There’s a document I need you to get from Brad.”
“Dream on!” I spat, my voice trembling with rage.
I despised Brad, but I hated Kathy just as much. And stealing corporate secrets? That was a line I refused
to cross.
Dennis’s smile turned cold. “Then your lawyer boyfriend won’t live to see another day.”
Panic seized me. “What have you done to Cameron?”
Dennis’s laugh was soft but sharp, like a blade against skin. He pressed a kiss to my cheek, making my skin crawl. “Behave yourself, and you’ll see him soon enough. But if you try anything clever, I’ll send him back to you–piece by piece.”
Piece by piece.
My whole body shuddered with dread. These people weren’t human–they were monsters.
Dennis fed me just enough details about the document to set me on his task before leaving. I tried calling Cameron, but there was no answer. Desperate, bolted downstairs to check on him.
The elevator was in use, so I ran down the stairs, my heart pounding with every step.

Just as I stepped out of the building, I caught snippets of Dennis and Kathy’s conversation.
“Do you really fancy Wendy?” Kathy asked, her tone sharp with jealousy.
