Halfway through my sentence, I suddenly changed my tone.”
“Since you are done with your calls, isn’t it my turn to call now?”
Without hesitation, I redialed the number I had called earlier. The phone rang only a few seconds before a voice answered and the assistant’s tone was anxious.
“Miss Natalie, what’s the situation? You weren’t hurt, right?“”
I glanced at Camilla, who stood opposite me, brimming with arrogance. A smirk tugged at my lips.
“Not yet.”
A breath of relief echoed from the other end of the line. But before my assistant could completely relax, I continued to speak.
“But it seems like someone here wants to go head–to–head with me. How do you think this kind of thing should be handled?”
After hearing my words, there was a brief pause and immediately, my assistant’s tone turned sharp and severe.
“Miss Natalie, stay put. I will send people over immediately.”
Camilla saw this scene of me calling and looked at me provocatively and mockingly.
“Oh, come on, Natalie. Are you seriously playing pretend right now? What, just because you know a few airport staff members, you think you are some big shot?”
She folded her arms and sneered. “Let me remind you, my father is the wealthiest man in Los Angeles. Our family built half of this airport. What can you possibly do against me?”
After hearing her words, the corners of my mouth involuntarily rose slightly.”
“Miss Camilla, you don’t really think it’s just a coincidence that I can make an airplane turn around, do you? It’s kind of unique for a rich girl to be like you.”
The minutes ticked by and more and more people gathered in the airport waiting lobby. The crowd of curious onlookers unanimously took out their cell phones and started taking pictures and even the airport staff were dazzled.

I automatically blocked out these remarks and stood in place with my hands in my pockets.

But to my amusement, Camilla–who had been so smug just moments ago–was now standing at the very back, nodding and bowing like a desperate underling. She looked like an eager–to–please little husky and I had to stifle a laugh.
A middle–aged man, exuding an air of authority, finally stepped forward. He cast a sidelong glance at me, his brow arching slightly.
“So, you are the one who demanded my daughter strip and run around naked?” His voice was laced with both amusement and disdain. “And you think you can just ignore my existence, Maxwell Beaumont, in your eyes, huh?“}]
There was a hint of disdain in his tone, as well as a hint of surprise, but more than that, it was still provocative.
“That’s right, it’s exactly me.”
