Severin held my gaze, his expression uncharacteristically serious.
“You told me you like roses,” he said. “So I created a world and filled it with them. Reina, I had no choice. You got to me… and everything I said was real.”
Roses stretched endlessly in every direction, a sea of deep red petals swaying in the breeze. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t moved.
I found myself looking at him–really looking at him and in his eyes, I saw nothing but me. He still loved me.
Otherwise, this wouldn’t make sense. If anyone else had destroyed his castle, they would be gone. No hesitation, no mercy.
But here I was, still standing, completely unharmed. I let out a slow breath.
Maybe he did have his reasons. Maybe there was something I didn’t understand. But something still felt off. We had been apart for too long. I couldn’t just forget everything and go back like nothing happened. I needed space. I needed to clear my head.
Most of all, I needed to return to the real world. Severin’s face darkened, but after a long pause, he nodded. With his permission, leaving was easy. And just like that, I was back. No eerie buildings. No flickering shadows. No whispers from the dark. Just home.
I exhaled, relief settling in, but then I saw it. A massive banner stretched across the street, [Happy Valentine’s Day.]
I stopped in my tracks, something wasn’t right. And then it hit me. Time didn’t exist the same way in the horror world.
Severin was the final boss of the game. He shouldn’t have known about Valentine’s Day, but he did. My stomach twisted. A bad feeling crept over me.
I couldn’t go back now, not even if I wanted to. Whatever had happened between Severin and me… I needed to figure it out.
Late that night, I lay in bed, staring at the ceiling, trying to make sense of everything. Then, something shifted in the darkness.
A faint rustle. A weight. I froze.
Slowly, stiffly, I turned.
Our eyes met and it was Severin. For a second, I thought I was dreaming. I was back in the real world. How could he be here?
Then he kissed me, yet I didn’t stop him. I only pulled away when my lungs screamed for air. Gasping, I stared at him, my chest rising and falling fast.

out.
I pinched my arm, hard. Pain shot through me. Not a dream.
Shock jolted me fully awake. This was my room. This was reality. “How did you get here?” My voice barely came
Severin sat on my bed, completely at ease.
“Reina,” he said, watching me like I was the only thing that mattered. “I told you I’d stay with you forever. Since you didn’t want to come to my world, I came to yours. After a lot of effort, I finally merged the two.”
My mind blanked. Merged?
Before I could react, a scream echoed from outside. I spun toward the window and my blood ran cold. Creatures from the horror world slithered between the streetlights, their forms flickering in and out of sight.
I barely had time to panic before Severin glanced outside–just once–and the monsters scattered, melting into
the darkness.
My heart pounded. He wasn’t lying. He actually did it, he merged both worlds.
How? I had no idea. But right now, it didn’t matter.
These creatures couldn’t be here. If people saw them, if word got out, everything would spiral into chaos.
Then, in the blink of an eye, the other players were back in the real world. They looked just as lost.
Sean. Miranda, everyone who had been stuck in that SSS–level nightmare. Now, the difficulty had dropped because Severin was gone.
