Sean still lost his arm to Chainsaw Maniac and it was all Miranda’s fault. At the worst possible moment, she shoved him forward, using him as a human shield against the blade.
Betrayal hit fast. Sean turned on her the second he hit the ground, his face twisted with rage. Miranda didn’t even flinch. They were about to rip each other apart.
Then, everything shifted. Just like that, they were back in the modern world. At first, everyone was relieved. They hadn’t even finished the mission, but somehow, they made it out alive.
Then they realized something was wrong. They weren’t alone. The bosses from the game world had followed
them back.
Now, nowhere was safe. I stared at Severin, my stomach twisting. He was insane for doing this. I wanted to talk some sense into him, to make him undo whatever he had done, but he wasn’t listening. All he cared about was spending Valentine’s Day with me.
I had no idea what to think. Was this because I rejected him in the sea of flowers? When had he even decided to merge the two worlds?
I had no clue, but if Severin said the worlds had merged, then they had. He never lied.
And yet–everything looked normal. The streets were calm. People went about their day, unaware of the
nightmare hiding in the shadows because the monsters were hiding.
I was still trying to process it all when Severin casually walked up to a ticket booth, pretending to be just another guy buying movie tickets.
That was when Miranda appeared, she didn’t speak. She just lunged at me, knife in hand. But she never got close.
Before she could reach me, Severin kicked her away like it was nothing.
Then, in the blink of an eye, something moved in the darkness and Miranda was gone. The monster didn’t even give her a chance to scream.
One second, she was there. The next, there was nothing left of her. And we were in the middle of a crowded shopping mall. People had seen everything.
For a moment, there was silence, then, the screaming started. My heart pounded as I grabbed Severin’s hand,

trying to stop him from making things worse.
But this was already beyond control. I had to keep him from doing something drastic.
I took a deep breath and looked him in the eyes. “Severin, I promised you. I said I’d be with you again. I’ll go back to the horror world with you. But you have to send the monsters back. They can’t be here.”
For a moment, he just stared at me, like he hadn’t expected me to say that. Then, his expression shifted and he shook his head. “I can’t go back.”
His words sent a chill down my spine.
He hesitated before adding, “I never told you this, but my world isn’t the only one. There are three others, each with their own ruler. We’ve all been in charge of our own horror worlds… and merging with reality wasn’t just my decision. It was something we all agreed on.”
I froze. Three more like him? Three more final bosses?
My mind struggled to keep up, but Severin didn’t let go of my hand. Instead, he held it tighter, his voice low but firm. “Before, when I said you were just a plaything… I only said that for their sake. I didn’t mean it. Reina, you matter
to me.”
How could he even bring this up now? I wasn’t thinking about his feelings, I was thinking about the fact that there were others like him and they had planned this all along.
Severin seemed to sense my panic. “There are people who will handle the monsters,” he said, trying to reassure me. “They’re not an accident anymore. Our horror worlds were collapsing, Reina. We had no choice but to find a new space.”
His voice softened and for the first time, he looked almost… guilty.
“I didn’t care about any of this before,” he admitted. “But then you left. And suddenly, I wanted this to happen.”
