C09
Severin had been sneaking into the real world for a while, experimenting, watching, learning. That was how he found out about Valentine’s Day.
Which meant he had been keeping an eye on me this whole time. So, he knew everything.
After that, the world had changed overnight. Shadows came alive, monsters stepping out from the darkness and claiming lives. But as chaos spread, I started to realize Severin hadn’t been lying, there were people out there handling it.
Somehow, the two worlds had blended together in a way that… worked. Monsters had their own territories and weren’t allowed to attack humans freely. Over time, people accepted that they weren’t alone in this world, that things lurking in the dark were real.
And then there was Severin, sticking to me like glue, shamelessly introducing himself to my parents as my boyfriend.
Not just that, he had built himself the perfect identity. Rich, successful, self–made. The ideal son–in–law. It wasn’t long before he had them wrapped around his finger.
And just like that, he was already talking about marriage.
I found myself staring at him, trying to make sense of it all. He used to be the final boss of a horror world, a creature of nightmares. Now, he was just a guy eager to settle down.
Had the real world changed him? Or had he always been like this, just waiting for the right moment? Either way, he was way more impatient about getting married than I was.
But on the night before the wedding, something happened. Sean showed up.
I barely recognized him. His arm was gone. His face was worn, aged beyond his years. His eyes, bloodshot and full of something that made my chest tighten.
The moment he saw me, he grabbed my shoulders, his grip desperate.

“Reina, I know Severin forced you into this, but listen, I found a way to stop them. If we work together, we can end this. For good.”
I stared at Sean, unimpressed. This was the guy who had thrown me into the horror world without a second thought and now he had the audacity to ask for my help?
And for what? To take down my fiancé? Severin, who despite everything had never actually hurt me?
I stood up without hesitation. “Sorry, Sean. I love Severin, I’m marrying him and there’s no way I’m turning on my own husband to help you.”
Sean lost it. His face twisted in rage and before I could react, he lunged at me. But before he could even get close, the creatures came out of nowhere. They moved fast. Too fast.
Sean didn’t even have time to grab whatever artifact had kept him safe before, they swarmed him instantly, dragging him down in the blink of an eye.
And just like that, he was gone. I felt nothing. This was just karma doing its job. Before I knew it, my wedding day arrived.
I thought I would be nervous, but honestly, the strangest part wasn’t the wedding itself. It was the guest list. The creatures had shown up like regular attendees, blending in like this was just another event on their calendars. And weirdly enough, it didn’t feel wrong.
I smiled at them, greeting them like it was completely normal. Maybe it was. Severin had said the world needed to change and maybe he was right.
The ceremony went off without a hitch and as I stood next to Severin, looking at everything around me, I realized something. Maybe this wasn’t the future I had imagined for myself.
However, that didn’t mean it couldn’t be a good one.
