“Do you think we have some sort of gene that gives us mental illnesses? Why else would they act like this?
“I really don’t know what to do anymore. Would my dad end up like Uncle Gary?”
Laura said nothing, but I could see that she was almost unable to hide her grin. It was as if she had been looking forward to this.
I sighed long and hard before taking a look at Gary. His entire face was purple, and his limbs were trembling uncontrollably.
Laura sighed as well. “I don’t know what to do either.
“He was just fine, but he suddenly ended up like this.”
She immediately started crying again.
I patted her shoulder to comfort her. “He’ll get better. If anything happens in the future, just come to me.”

Chapter 7
Right then, Adam came in, but he was surprised when he saw me, and he quickly said, “I heard that something happened to Laura’s father, so I…”
I waved him off to show that I understood.
Adam said nothing else, but when he looked at Laura, his eyes were filled with disgust.
Still, no matter what, they were on the same side, so he could not have a falling out with her just yet. Hence, he could only push aside his disgust and exchange a few words with Laura. Laura complained about her situation to him. Yet when she wanted to lean into his arms, he pushed her away.
I almost laughed at the sadness in Laura’s eyes.
She finally experienced how hurt I felt when I was rejected by Adam in the previous cycle, but she brought this on herself.
Perhaps she was still waiting for some major accident to happen to my family so that all of her family’s troubles would disappear because Laura was unwilling to send Gary to the mental hospital. So, I had no other choice but to help her send Gary back home.
All that work made both me and Adam exhausted.
I then left Laura’s house with a random excuse I cooked up.
After I got back home, I finally got to bed. My mind was at peace.
Over the course of the day, I had been on edge. I was worried that if I made a mistake, my life would turn into hell once again.
Fortunately, everything was still within my control.
But before I could fall asleep, Adam called me. “Anya, something happened! Come over!”
When I arrived at the gate to Laura’s house, I saw Gary crawling about like a worm on the street, and he was naked, to boot.
I was immediately reminded of the previous cycle. Before my father passed away, he acted like this too. He was no longer lucid, and he acted like an animal. He just kept imitating everything that he saw around him.
Gary was doing the same thing.
Laura stood by the side and wailed.
The passersby were gossiping about him.
Disgust was evident on Adam’s face. “How embarrassing. When will this end, seriously?”
Laura heard it, and she immediately rushed over to shout at Adam, “What do you mean by that?!
“You don’t want to help, do you?!”
Then, she threatened him, “If you dare leave, I’m going to tell Anya about us, and you have no one else to blame but yourself when that happens!”
Adam immediately panicked and stopped her. “Don’t. I’m still waiting for her to give me her slot to study abroad. Don’t ruin my chance,”
I pretended to not hear anything and kept staring at my phone.
But I gripped it so tightly that my fingers hurt. To think tha this was what he was planning.

Adam and I studied at the same university, and it only had one slot available to send a student to study abroad. Since I had outstanding grades, I was naturally given that slot.
But Adam was dissatisfied about it. He thought that since I was rich, I should not be fighting over this slot with him.
He had spoken about this with me multiple times in the previous cycle, but I thought that this was something I deserved, and it had nothing to do with whether my family was rich or not.
To think that Adam had been carrying a grudge about this the whole time… I gnashed my teeth.
