Chapter 16 Flutter
“Yeah, Laura. We’ll figure out a way to get Diana back! But you need to take it easy, you’re not well,” Aiden said as he walked in from outside.
“… …” Laura’s eyes were filled with tears, looking so fragile and lost.
“I get it,” Laura nodded, trying to be strong. When she saw Robert coming in with Aiden, her eyes lit up for a second. “Robert…”
Robert walked over to Laura’s bedside, took her cold, soft hand, and gave her a reassuring smile. “Laura, trust me. No matter what Diana does, I’ll convince her to give you her
kidney.”
“Of course, Robert, I trust you,” Laura said with a weak smile, though her thoughts were
far from trusting.
Laura thought, ‘Robert, you’re just a small–time employee. What can you do? You’re nothing compared to Howard.”
Back in the day, Laura was so jealous of Diana and Robert’s relationship that she did. everything to steal Robert away, and she succeeded. But then, Diana, who should’ve been left with nothing, ended up with the perfect Howard, Laura couldn’t stand being outdone by Diana and was determined to have Howard for herself.
Laura lowered her tearful eyes, hiding the fierce determination within.
At the Spencer Villa, Diana woke up naturally at six in the morning. As soon as she opened her eyes, she realized she was nestled in a warm, strong embrace, her face turning
red.
Lately, because of Sophia, she and Howard had been sharing a bed. It started off awkward, but she eventually got used to it. The awkward part was that every morning, she somehow ended up in Howard’s arms, despite the blanket they used to separate themselves at night.
Diana’s cheeks burned, and her heart raced like it was about to leap out of her chest. She
held her breath, worried Howard might wake up, and quietly looked up at his handsome face, getting lost in his features. She couldn’t help but trace his eyebrows, eyes, nose, and lips with her fingers. When her fingertips brushed his soft lips, she quickly pulled her hand back as if she’d been burned.
Blushing, Diana carefully slipped out of his embrace and got up, trying not to wake him.

As she left the room, Howards eyes opened, clear and alert. He stared at the closed door. deep in thought.
Diana, you’re up early today. Sophia said, smiling as she had breakfast in the dining room. When she saw Diana coming down from the second floor, she beames.
“Morning. Grandma. Diana said sweetly, sitting down next to Sophia. “How are you feeling today?”
“I’m feeling wonderful! Sophia replied, her smile bright. ‘It’s strange, but seeing you makes me so happy, and when I’m happy, my pain just disappears
Mrs. Diana Spencer, the doctor said that as long as Mrs. Sophia Spencer stays happy, her pain will be much less.” Amelia said with a smile, placing a bowl of oatmeal in front of
Diana.
“If that’s the case. Grandma, I’ll make sure to come back more often to keep you
company, Diana said warmly.
“Really? That would be awesome! Sophia said, beaming.
The two of them chatted happily while eating their catmeal
Halfway through breakfast, Howard came down from the second floor. Whether it was because of what happened that morning or not, as soon as Diana saw Howard, she felt her body heat up, feeling all sorts of uncomfortable
Howard, on the other hand, seemed to do it on purpose, sitting right next to Diana. His arm brushed against hers, and every little touch made her feel like she was on fire.
“Diana, are you feeling okay? Why is your face so red?” Sophia noticed Diana’s unusual
behavior and asked with concern.
“Oh, maybe it’s just too hot. Diana replied awkwanity.
“Is that so?” Sophia was puzzled. She had just asked Amelia to set the air conditioning to a comfortable temperature that morning and wondered if it was broken.
Diana didn t dare say more. She quickly finished her breakfast, greeted Sophia, and left
the dining room.
After breakfast, Diana got a message from Joshua, saying that the ancient painting she

had restored was sold to a collector for one hundred million dollars.

Diana was a bit shocked. Although she had estimated the value of the painting before restoring it, she thought the maximum price would be in the tens of millions. She didn’t expect it to sell for one hundred million dollars.
Joshua was also thrilled, not expecting the painting to sell for that much either.

Howard raised an eyebrow. He could clearly see Diana’s discomfort and awkwardness. But
somehow, it made him feel very happy.
He said. “I’ve already sent back that gem from last time, but I’ve got a few new ones. Can you take a look at them for me?”
Diana was stunned. “You trust me now?”
Howard smiled faintly. I’ve always trusted you.
Diana didn’t believe Howard’s words. She pulled at the corners of her mouth and indifferently, “Alright, I’ll take a look.”
With that, Diana followed Howard back to the room.
Sophia watched Diana and Howard go upstairs together, feeling very pleased. Their
relationship has gotten so good.”
In the room, Howard placed several gems of different sizes and shapes in front of Diana. Seeing that, Diana s eyes lit up. Each of Howard s gems could sell for millions or even tens of millions of dollars. It was hard for ordinary people to get even one, and she wondered
where he got these from.
