Ellie suddenly threw herself at my feet, panic–stricken and said, “Uncle, flora, I was wrong. Please, don’t let them bully me anymore. The baby keeps telling me he’s scared–listen, he’s crying again..7%
Ellie was clearly mentally disturbed and her words made no sense, which only led the quests to laugh and mock her%
Gabriel’s parents, embarrassed by the scene, harshly scolded their son and told him to take this crazy woman and leave immediately.%
Gabriel wasn’t ready to give up just yet. He crawled in front of Zachary, clutching his pants leg tightly. “Uncle, I know you have a kind heart. Ellie has already been punished and if this continues, she really will die.X
“Please, I beg you–spare her Uncle, for the sake of your future nephew, can you get those trending topics removed?“% Zachary kicked Gabriel’s hand off, looking down at him coldly. “First, I didn’t create the trending searches, so whether they’re removed or not isn’t up to me.%
“Second, Gabriel, you’ve been played for two months, acting as a substitute father for someone else’s child and yet you still have the nerve to show your face?“%
At those words, Gabriel froze, staring at Zachary in disbelief, then glancing between me and Ellie’s belly.%
It took him several minutes to process and he finally stammered, “Uncle, w–what do you mean by that?“% “Idiot! Just look for yourself!”
Zachary slammed a stack of paternity test results into Gabriel’s face.%
With each page Gabriel flipped through, his shoulders trembled more violently.%
He grabbed Ellie by the neck, his eyes bloodshot and demanded, “You worthless woman, tell me whose child is really in your belly?!“%
Ellie didn’t seem to understand what Gabriel was saying. She simply stared blankly, holding onto his hand and giggling foolishly. “Gabe, are you done? Can you take me to find the baby’s father?“%
Seeing this, Gabriel’s rage escalated. He kicked Ellie to the ground, yelling, “You lying bitch, you’ve fooled me!“%
Tears welled up in Gabriel’s eyes as he turned to me, pulling at the hem of my dress in desperation. “Nora, I know it’s too late for anything I say now, but I still want to try.%
“You must have heard what was said that day–Uncle is marrying his true love, his white moonlight. Please, don’t marry him. Give me one more chance and I promise I’ll change and treat you the way I used to.“%
I couldn’t believe that, even now, Gabriel still thought there was a chance for us to get back together.%
Looking into his eyes, which still gleamed with hope, I sneered.%
“Gabriel, you’re an ex–con. What makes you think you’re worthy of me?“%
The room fell silent for a few seconds, Gabriel’s face turned red with shame and in his fury, he let out a bitter laugh./ “Nora, you know full well that my uncle is marrying his true love, his white moonlight. Are you really this pathetic? Throwing yourself at someone just to play the substitute?”
With a loud slap, I slapped Gabriel hard across the face.%
“Gabriel, listen to me carefully, I, Nora, am Zachary’s white moonlight. If you keep spreading rumors, I’ll tear your mouth apart.“%
Zachary wrapped his arm around my waist, smiling.%
“Nory, can we finally go ahead with the wedding?”
Linking my arm with his, I turned and began walking toward the altar.
Then, as if a sudden thought crossed my mind, I turned back and dialed 911. “Hello, I’d like to report a crime. There’s someone here trying to commit murder.”
Gabriel looked up in shock, then turned to Ellie, realizing only then that his earlier kick had caused her to bleed profusely.” With the amount of blood she was losing, anyone could see that Ellie wasn’t going to survive.//
Gabriel’s parents immediately panicked, frantically urging him to hide, but before they could make it out the door, the police slapped handcuffs on Gabriel’s wrists./
His parents weren’t spared either. For using their influence to help Gabriel escape prison, they too were each cuffed and escorted into a police car.
The wedding quickly returned to normal. The officiant took the microphone and asked once more, “Nora, do you take this man as your husband, to face all of life’s challenges and joys together, through sickness and health, for better or worse?“%
I smiled and nodded. “I do. In this life, the next and the one after that, I will always be by his side.”
