Chapter 4
Luke grabbed the divorce agreement and tore it to pieces.
He said, “I don’t agree! How can you bring up divorce just because of a party? You weren’t like this before.
“I had promised my friends that we’d meet, but you refused. I can’t cook, so I had to ask Jessica for help.”

I nodded. “Exactly. She has you, and you have her. Isn’t it just perfect?
“She’s even asked you to be the father to her child. You two make a pretty good family.”
Luke grabbed my shoulders and shook me.
He explained, “That’s not what I mean. I just want to say that you’re important to me.
“Why don’t you care about me anymore, Amy?”
I didn’t understand his logic, and I had no desire to.
Jake got his visa checked and came back. Seeing me stuck in the situation, he instinctively pushed Luke aside.
He said, “Sir, do you need something from my colleague? If you have something to say, then speak. Don’t get physical.”
Chapter 4
Luke glanced back and forth between Jake and me
He snapped. “I get it. Amy Poole, you’re getting a divorce to elope with this man, aren’t you?”
Maybe in his mind, any man and woman standing together must have something going on. I was speechless.
Jake asked. “Who are you? We’re just colleagues. We need to go to Olisfast for a two–year assignment.”
“I’m her husband!” Luke said firmly and then froze. “Wait, going abroad?”
Jake looked at the shredded divorce papers scattered.
He smirked. “How can you call yourself a husband when you don’t even know anything?
“You’re about to break up, so why are you still interfering with her life? Amy, let’s go. We need to head for security.”
I picked up my suitcase and walked toward the security check, but Luke blocked my path.
He shouted, “Amy, stop right there! How many things have your been hiding from me?
“I won’t allow you to get involved with him. I won’t let you go abroad. And I won’t allow you to divorce me.”

Seeing that he was determined to cause a scene, I hardened my expression.
I said, “Luke, not everyone is like you and Jessica, with a family and yet still tangled up with someone else.
“You can choose the partner you want, but I can also choose the life I want.
“Don’t think that just because you’ve stopped striving, you can drag others down with you. I’m done with this marriage.
“You won’t sign the papers, but Jessica won’t wait for you forever. Don’t be left with nothing in the end.”
Luke was stunned by my words, born by the choices between me and Jessica.
I ignored him and walked straight through the security check with my suitcase..
If the divorce couldn’t happen, we’d be separated for two years, and then I could still get a divorce.
My time was valuable, and it wasn’t worth wasting on him just to win a temporary victory.
Jake followed behind with a smile, glancing at Luke with mockery.
After passing through security, a loud shout came from the crowd behind me. “Amy, don’t go!”

I didn’t even flinch, continuing forward to board the international flight.

Once I made up my mind, everything seemed to fall into place effortlessly.
After we arrived in Olisfast, thanks to thorough preparation, the new work I took on went smoothly.
My colleagues and boss praised both Jake and me.
Just when I thought my new life was finally on track, I received a bouquet one day.
The card boldly stated that it was from Luke.
My colleagues stared at me enviously, and as I pondered what to do with the flowers, the receptionist rushed to my desk.
She said, “Amy, someone’s looking for you.”
