“Louise, how can you trick the police with fake evidence?” Patricia berated me in faux righteousness before turning to the police officer with a sycophantic smile. “I’m so sorry, young man. This is my daughter–in–law, and she’s not right in the head. I’ll take her away right this instant.”
She started yanking me toward the door, but the police officer eyed her sternly and commanded, “Hold it right there! Deliberate destruction of evidence is an obstruction of justice and against the law!
“Do you not know that? I’ve already checked the evidence, and everything is in order. We’ll open the investigation into this matter right away. All of you will have to cooperate with the police!”
The police officer tapped away on his phone before leaving with his notebook.
After realizing that she had failed to stop me in time, Patricia nearly fainted.
Three hours later, the sound of the police siren wailed outside of Whitney’s house. Even as the police officers escorted Martin into a police car, he was still beside himself with disbelief.
“Save me, Mom! I don’t want to go to prison!” he yelled at Patricia before lunging over to grab her arm.
Patricia was sobbing hard as well. “Oh, Martin! My son..”
Alas, the police officers dragged Martin off once more, and Patricia couldn’t stop them. She fell over and ended up with a mouthful of dirt.
When I saw the look of utter resentment and regret on Martin’s face, I felt gleeful. As I had expected, Martin would have to spend the rest of his life in prison this time around.
In my previous life, he tricked me and betrayed me. He made me slave away in service to his mistress. Well, this time, I was sending him to prison, and he had it coming for him!
As the police car drove off, Patricia remained seated on the ground.
