It was snowing outside.
I struggled out of Adrian’s arms and jumped down. He watched me nervously, “Where are you going, wife?”
This scene had happened countless times.
Adrian was like a cat–obsessed monster with no sense of security.
I helplessly rubbed against his leg, then nimbly perched on his shoe.
Adrian exclaimed, “Wife is so amazing!”
I blushed, thankful that a cat’s embarrassment couldn’t be seen.
“Rachel!”
I whipped my head around.
Emma, bundled up like a mummy, came jogging towards me. She panted, picking me up and spinning me around.
“Good Rachel, have you been eating and sleeping on time?” Emma said while glaring at Adrian,
“Has this person been bullying you? If he’s not good to you, come with mommy.”
I silently said “okay” in my heart. Of course, Emma couldn’t hear it.
But Adrian panicked, “Emma, I’m letting you see her because you’re my wife’s friend. Don’t push your luck.”
Emma had long gotten used to Adrian’s “crazy talk.” She only agreed to leave me here after making sure he wasn’t some kind of zoophile.

But Adrian panicked, “Emma, I’m letting you see her because you’re my wife’s friend.
Don’t push your luck!”
Emma had long gotten used to Adrian’s “crazy talk.” She only agreed to leave me here after making sure he wasn’t some kind of zoophile.
My sky–high medical bills had depleted Emma’s savings. Adrian tried to transfer money to her, but she refused.
“Rachel is my best friend. I will always love everything about her. Not to mention spending all my savings on treating her cat, even if I had to lose everything I own, I would be willing.”
“Adrian, if you truly love Rachel, then please treat Rachel well. Although she’s a stray cat, Rachel cared for her deeply. I think if there’s anything Rachel would be worried about in this world, it would be Rachel.”
Adrian, for the first time, relayed a message for me: “Not just Rachel. You too, Emma. You are Rachel’s best friend, and she will always love you too.”
The snow fell heavier. Emma reluctantly handed me back to Adrian,
“Rachel, mommy has to go now. We won’t see each other for a long time. Take care of yourself.”
Watching her silhouette grow smaller, I realized I was crying again.
Emma used all her strength to keep herself from looking back.
She envied the mad Adrian, who could smile stupidly at a cat every day.
But she also couldn’t help wondering, maybe Adrian was telling the truth, and Rachel really had turned into a cat.
