I curled up in the corner, barely alive.
“Rose, I’ll take you to the hospital,” Adrian said, carrying Rose to the car. Just like before, he didn’t even glance back at me.
My consciousness was pulled from Fluffy’s body.
Finally, I floated in mid–air, watching the little cat on the ground gradually stop twitching.
When I woke up again, I was lying on a small bed.
Emma was keeping watch by my side. Seeing me move, she immediately said:
“Doctor, it’s awake!”
The white–coated doctor who rushed over examined me carefully and sighed,
“It’s severely injured. Treatment would cost over a thousand a day, but even with medication, it might not make it.”
Emma’s eyes reddened, “We’ll accept the treatment. It’s the only memento left of friend. Please, save it.”
There was a commotion outside the room,
“This is a pet hospital, why can’t I bring my dog in?”

Rose, with bandages on her hand, was holding a leash with a wolfhound in one hand and clinging to Adrian with the other. They were stopped at the door.
“I’m sorry, ma’am, this is the feline ward.”
I tried my best to control myself, but I still trembled at the sound of the wolfhound’s barking.
As more and more accusing glances gathered, Rose had to give up reluctantly.

Adrian knew I liked cats and was most afraid of dogs. Yet he still helped Rose walk her dog in front of me and Fluffy. The aggressive wolfhound was hard to control, and to protect Fluffy, I had been bitten deeply on my arms, chest, and calves. The scars hadn’t faded even
when I died.
Adrian looked at Emma and frowned, asking:
“Where is Rachel really? Is it fun for you all to team up and fool me?”
Emma’s eyes were filled with hatred,
“You’ve already scattered her ashes! What more do you want?”

Adrian was stunned for a moment, then angrily tried to argue.
Emma took out a pile of documents and threw them in his face:

“Look carefully, Adrian. Rachel is dead. These are all her non–accidental death certificates! I’ve already reported it to the police.”
“The last person she saw before she died was Rose, and the last call she made was to you. You both need to be investigated…”
Rose’s face twisted as she shouted, “She committed suicide, it has nothing to do with me! She deserved it!”
Emma slapped her, “She was pregnant. Rachel wouldn’t even harm a stray cat, how could she take her own life along with her child’s?”
In the chaos, Adrian knelt on the ground, looking at the death records one by one.
After a long silence, he stood up with his head lowered.
“If she’s dead, then she’s dead. Emma, don’t slander people, Rose wouldn’t do such a thing.”

I couldn’t see his face clearly. For a moment, my heart ached sharply. I sighed mockingly in my heart, Adrian.
Adrian’s gaze suddenly turned towards me.
“Rachel?”
My spirit shook. I tentatively called his name again in my heart.
This time, Adrian stared at me, his eyes already bloodshot.
He strode towards me, demanding: “Who are you? What exactly are you? Why are you imitating Rachel’s voice?”
“Where is Rachel? Make her come out!”
The air froze. Rose looked at Adrian with a pale face, then glanced at me,
“What are you saying, Adrian? Rachel is dead This is just a cat.”
Adrian’s face was expressionless. After a while, he withdrew his gaze and turned to leave.
Rose hurriedly followed him.
“Your cat still needs treatment. What’s its name? We need to make a record.”
Emma looked at me with pity, “Rachel, let’s just call you Rachel.”
