Before he finished speaking, a loud crash sounded through the phone, followed by a phone clattering to the ground.
“Luna? What happened?!”
“Luna!! Answer me!!!”
Jasper called Luna’s name repeatedly, but there was no response, just chaos in the background.
Then came the sound of an ambulance siren.
“Sir, are you the family of the person involved? Your partner was in a car accident…”

A loud buzzing filled Jasper’s ears, and he heard nothing else, rushing madly toward the boarding gate.
Lily, confused, was startled by him, instinctively calling his name.
But he ignored her, his stumbling form sprinting away.
Lily had to follow with her luggage, barely making it onto the plane before it took off.
On the plane, Jasper sat silently, jaw clenched, gripping his phone tightly, ignoring Lily’s words.
In the end, Lily sat beside him, sulking, but this time he didn’t come to coax her.
After landing, Jasper hurriedly got into a waiting car. Before Lily could get in, the black Bentley sped off like an arrow.
The phone rang, and without looking, Jasper answered, immediately hearing a woman’s sharp cries.
“Jasper! You bastard! What do you mean today, for that old woman…”
“Shut up!”
Lily had called Luna that before, but he’d never been so disgusted and angry. The suppressed emotions found an outlet.
He coldly said, “If I hear you call her that again, you can get lost immediately!”
Before she could respond, he hung up decisively.
The phone rang, and Jasper answered in haste without checking the caller ID. A woman’s shrill voice erupted from the other end.
“Jasper! You jerk! What do you mean today, for that old woman…”
“Shut up!”
Lily had called Luna that before, but never had Jasper felt such irritation and anger, as if long–suppressed emotions had finally found an
outlet.
He said coldly, “If I hear you call her that again, you’re out of my life!”
He hung up decisively without waiting for a reply.
The phone rang again almost immediately.
He picked it up, shouting angrily, “Are you done harassing me?”
There was a pause on the other end before a calm voice replied, “Jasper, come to the funeral home and bring your wife home.”

Jasper’s entire body trembled, his blood rushing to his head. He was shaking uncontrollably.
A wave of panic overtook him.
Even when he saw Declan holding the urn, he couldn’t believe it. He clenched his fists tightly, his voice trembling, “This can’t be her…”
“This isn’t possible.”
Declan sneered at his words.
“Stop pretending, Jasper. She’s gone. What are you trying to prove with this act?”
“When you were parading around with your mistress, did you ever think about how she felt?”
Declan set the urn down and suddenly kicked Jasper hard in the chest.
“If Luna hadn’t always protected you, I would have done this long ago.”
Jasper hadn’t expected him to strike, and he staggered back, caught off–guard.
He stared at Declan in shock, memories of the past fueling his anger, and he swung a punch at Declan’s chin.
“This is between Luna and me. It’s none of your business.”
“Who gave you the right to sign the cremation papers? I’m still here.”
Both had fiery tempers, known for skipping classes and fighting during their school days. Despite mellowing with age, they fought fiercely and relentlessly when provoked.
Friends who arrived tried to pull them apart but struggled to do so.
It wasn’t until a long–haired woman with red lips suddenly slapped Jasper across the face.
“Jasper! Enough!”
“The cremation papers were signed at Luna’s request. She didn’t want you to see her covered in blood. If she hadn’t insisted that you take her home, I wouldn’t even have given you the urn…”
“Because you don’t deserve it.”
Jasper suddenly lost all strength, collapsing to the ground, a tear unexpectedly falling on his clenched fist.
“If you have any conscience left, give her a proper burial. If you don’t want to, I, Cora, will.”
With that, Cora got into a nearby car without looking back.
After she left, the others also drove away one by one.
In an instant, Jasper was left alone at the funeral home entrance.
He held the urn tightly to his chest, crying uncontrollably.
“Luna, I’m taking you home.”
Jasper returned home, clutching the urn.
Upon opening the door, he immediately saw the birthday cake on the coffee table in the living room.
He stumbled over, seeing two doll heads leaning against each other on the cream cake. The cream on the girl’s face was melting, making it look like she was crying.
Jasper scooped a bit of cream into his mouth, the bitter taste spreading across his tonque.

He finished the cake in large bites, then remembered to open the gift box nearby.
A divorce agreement appeared before him.
Even though he had guessed it, seeing it confirmed made his heart sink.
He took out the agreement, examining it closely. The signature at the end was smudged.
It looked like it had been blurred by tears and then dried.
Jasper imagined her sitting alone by the window, crying as she wrote her name, and his heart ached uncontrollably.
The phone rang, then stopped, then rang again.
Messages from Lily appeared one after another.
“Jasper, what happened? Can you tell me?”
“Tell me what I did wrong, I’ll change. Don’t ignore me. I’ll listen from now on.”
