Caleb was stunned for a moment. Then, he asked in a strained voice, “What do you mean?”
Taking out my death certificate, Carol shakily held it out to Caleb. “If you won’t believe me, at least believe Liddy’s death certificate.”
When Caleb saw the words on the paper, he couldn’t help but freeze on the spot.
The weather was quite hot then, but he was so startled that he broke out in a cold sweat.
Caleb’s face gradually turned pale, and drops of sweat rolled down his forehead.
Noticing something off with Caleb’s expression, Eva hastily said, “Cal… It might be fake, right? This may be another scheme of Lydia’s…”
Caleb had always believed Eva, but this time, he chose to shove her outstretched hand away.
Caught off guard, Eva crashed onto the floor from the impact. Her exposed skin was scratched, leaving several wounds. Eva screamed in pain.
However, Caleb couldn’t be bothered with her anymore.
His face was pale as he continuously murmured, “Impossible! That’s impossible… She must be fine…”
Caleb hurriedly put on his coat. Grabbing the keys on the coffee table, he got into the car and sped to the hospital.
After arriving at the hospital, Caleb stumbled as he ran to my ward.
I had never seen him looking so desperate in all the years I had known him.
Walking up to my ward, Caleb didn’t even bother to knock as he kicked the door open.
Sadly, the ward was already empty. The sickbed I used to lie in was tidied up as well.
Caleb’s eyes turned red. Just then, the doctor who had operated on me entered the ward. Before the doctor could say anything, Caleb reached out and grabbed him by the collar.
Glaring at the doctor, Caleb asked furiously, “Where is she? Where has she gone?”
