Chapter 75
Lenore clearly had a spectator’s attitude.
Silas narrowed his eyes and spoke up, his voice cold. “Wayne.”
Wayne, all the way out in Denisville, was taken aback. “Damn!” He nearly dropped his phone, jumping off the couch, his voice shaky. “S–Silas?”
Silas raised an eyebrow slightly, speaking again in his usual cool tone. “Think two weeks in Mantriland is too long?”
Wayne was surprised to actually hear Silas’s voice. “Holy crap! Are you with Lenore?”
Wayne’s eyes widened as he stared at the game team interface with Lenore, disbelief written all over his face.
Silas snorted coldly, “So what if we are?”
Wayne figured Lenore was hitting the books in Jinslenburg and Silas was back in Senanville, probably stuck in a meeting at the Heartland Chamber of Commerce. He was baffled about how these two ended up together.
Wayne was utterly astonished. “Can someone explain what’s going on?” But no one was there to explain.
Silas was expressionless. “There’s a new project in Felinsland that needs a leader. You’re going there tomorrow.”
At the mention of Felinsland, Wayne was desperate as he said, “I’m sorry, Silas. It’s not too late to apologize now, right?” Deep down, he complained, ‘Why didn’t Lenore warn me?‘
“Too late.” Silas’s lips twitched into a faint smirk, his voice as cold as ice. “After all, I’m known as a heartless, two–timing son of a gun.” With that, he closed the mic. Then, Lenore logged off the game.
Wayne thought to himself, ‘Why can’t I keep my mouth shut? And Lenore didn’t even warn me!‘
At 3:00 p.m., every news platform was broadcasting a live press conference.
Jason, the head of the Heartland Chamber of Commerce, laid out the dirt on three board members for taking bribes and playing dirty, dropping concrete proof and booting them out of the Heartland Chamber of Commerce so fast that they didn’t have time to blink.
This sudden and grand event directly shook the entire business world. Even people in Denisville were paying attention.
Wayne put his old beef aside and dialed Silas. “I heard the Heartland Chamber of Commerce board’s been split, but kicking out three directors? How dare Jason pull a move like that? Did you step in?”
Silas stood on the balcony, gazing at the distant sky, his eyes heavy. “It’s not yet my turn to act.”
The way he put it only amped up Wayne’s curiosity, making him wish he could beam straight to Senanville. “What went down? Spill it already!”
Silas hung up the phone without ceremony.
At the Rose Mansion, Lethe watched the live broadcast, clicking her tongue. “You’re really ruthless.”
She thought to herself, “The bigwigs are really bigwigs; wherever they step, it’s a war zone.
Lenore said in a quite casual voice, “I always enjoy ridding the world of vermin.”
She had passed the reins to Jason and stayed out of his way. The Heartland Chamber of Commerce’s success was all down to Jason’s hard work and
smart moves.
She never meddled in picking the board members. Today, with a quick look–see, she stumbled on a stack of evidence that could put the three of them in jail for at least five years.
Watching her casual demeanor, Lethe flicked her purple hair back and smiled with a hint of mischief. “The ruler of Denisville is good–looking and loaded, and he has clout. Aren’t you tempted to snatch him up for yourself?”
Just then, a message from Silas popped up on her phone. Lenore opened it, typed a reply, and said casually, “I have everything he has.”
Lethe felt her own view was too narrow. She admired Lenore’s self–assurance. She rubbed her nose, her smile growing brighter.
“What do you think Silas’s face would look like if he found out that in the realms of politics, business, and commerce, the one with the top spot isn’t the Faulkner family, but you?” Lethe asked.

Lenore thought that would be very interesting. At that moment, a private message popped up on her phone.
Timothy: [Boss, the experiment is in the final stage, but we’re out of money.]
Lenore frowned and wired over a billion dollars from the Duncan family to Timothy. She sighed, thought about her tough life, and replied, “I guess I’m the poorest one now.”
“Come on.” Lethe rolled her eyes. She figured Lenore’s fortune could easily put her in the running for the world’s richest person.
Lenore shrugged. She always told the truth, but no one believed her.
