Chapter 77
Two days later, the Senanville Art Festival took place. This festival was hosted by the Senanville Lifeline Charity, sponsored by the Heartland Chamber of Commerce, and attracted many celebrities. The highlight was the veteran artist and ethnic dancer, Victoria.
All profits from the festival would go entirely towards poverty relief. Overall, it was quite lively.
Outside the Senanville Grand Theater, Bonnie pulled her off–white coat tight, holding onto Lenore’s cold hand, and feeling a bit nervous. She said, “Lenore, do you think I can manage?”
Ethnic dancing is quite a niche. The International Dance Association has only one master from this field, Victoria. While it’s said she’s looking to take on students during this art festival, it’s actually about finding someone to carry on her legacy.
Naturally, those who study ethnic dance hurried over here. She’s worried about embarrassing herself in front of Lenore.
Lenore pinched her cheek with a light laugh and said, “Just see it as having fun, no need to feel any pressure.”
Bonnie took a deep breath, clenched her fist, and gave herself a boost and said, “I’ll do my best.”
Lenore clicked her tongue and said, “I’m here too.”
Behind the scenes at the grand theater, Esther looked at the beautiful costumes and asked Ella, “Ella, are you going to perform on stage with Victoria today?”
Ella was trying on her outfit in front of the mirror. At just twenty–one, she was tall and slender, and the outfit, with its ethnic flair, added an extra touch of exotic beauty to her look.
Hearing this, she twirled with a smile, her eyes shining with pride. She said, “Yes, my teacher just told me I’ll be on stage with her.”
A flicker of jealousy passed through Esther’s eyes, but her face showed admiration and longing as she said, “I really hope that one day I can perform on stage with you.”
In high spirits, Ella replied, “That day isn’t far away.”
Victoria was taking apprentices after the art performance, and it was still early. Esther waited backstage for a while without seeing Victoria, so she decided to head out.
“Rachel,” she called out as she found Rachel already seated in the middle of the second row.
The theater was packed. Because of Ella, Rachel was able to secure seats in the first three rows. Not seeing Ryan, Esther asked, “Rachel, where’s my Ryan?”
Ryan was here today as well. His father, Stephen, had always wanted him to take over the family business, but Stephen was focused on research and had achieved significant success in AI technology. Stephen stopped pressuring him.
Rachel was dressed well today, exuding elegance and grace as she said, “He went out to make a call.”
Outside the theater, Ryan had his phone pressed to his ear, brows furrowed as he said, “Are you sure there’s a problem? I can’t return any sooner than tomorrow. Alright, then…”
“Bebe!” Just as he was speaking, a woman’s heart–wrenching scream suddenly pierced the air, followed by the blaring horns of cars on the street.
Ryan looked up to see a little girl holding a balloon standing in the middle of the road, with a white car speeding towards her, about to hit her.
Even if he tried to save her, there wasn’t enough time. Ryan clenched his phone tightly.
Just as everyone thought the little girl was about to be hit, a shadow dashed onto the road like a swift swallow, scooping her up around the waist and spinning away, narrowly avoiding the white car.
In an instant, they were back on the sidewalk, landing safely, their speed astonishing to everyone who saw it.
“Bebe! Are you alright? The woman was the first to react, rushing over to gather the little girl into her arms, trembling with relief, “You scared Mommy to death!”

Chapter 77
The white car had screeched to a stop not far away, and the male driver, calming himself, took a deep breath and started yelling out the window, “Don’t you know how to watch your child? If you can’t, then don’t be a damn parent…”
The woman ignored him, only remembering to thank the person who saved her daughter, but the rescuer had already left and was nowhere to be
seen.
Standing at a distance, Ryan watched the black figure who had saved the day, stepping out from the crowd and approaching a pretty little girl.
“Lenore!” When Bonnie saw Lenore returning, she quickly rushed over and looked her up and down. Noticing she wasn’t hurt, she finally let out a sigh of relief, “You almost scared me to death!”
“It’s nothing.” Lenore playfully pinched her cheek, wrapped an arm around her shoulders like they were close friends, took off her mask, and gave a cheeky grin, “Let’s go inside.”
The girl had such exquisite features that any adjective seemed inadequate. She appeared easy–going, yet her untamed spirit was unmistakable.
Ryan watched her walk past, standing there with his phone, lost in thought for quite a while.
