Chapter 16
Andrew felt movement behind him and shouted, “Who’s there?”
The next second, a sharp pain shot through his shoulder. In the darkness, two figures wrestled fiercely. At that moment, the person hiding on the balcony also rushed over. Amidst the scuffle, things in the room were knocked to the ground.
The servants, hearing the commotion, burst in to see Andrew lying on the floor, drenched in blood
“Don’t chase them. These people were prepared, Andrew said.
The security guards had no choice but to pull back.
When Rachel received Richard’s call, she was taken aback for a moment before answering, “Grandpa…”
“Rachel, something’s happened at home. You need to come back right away, Richard said
Rachel hung up the call and got out of bed immediately.
The taxi pulled up to the Zevon manor, which was brightly lit. As Rachel walked in, she saw a row of bodyguards standing downstairs. Even before she got inside, she could hear intermittent sobs, Rachel had a bad feeling
Sure enough, she saw Richard sitting on the sofa with a cane, looking complicated. Next to him was Andrew, with a bandage wrapped around his head, and Yedda, who looked like she had lost her last relative.
Seeing Rachel walk in. Yedda spoke up like the lady of the house, “Rachel, do you still have the nerve to come back?”
Rachel ignored Yedda and walked over to Richard, “Grandpa.
Richard glanced at her and said in a relatively gentle tone, “Where’s Jennie?”
Rachel didn’t say anything, her expression cold, nor sparing a glance for Andrew,
Tedda even came to our door, yet she’s still so indifferent. It looks like there really is a problem between them, Rachel thought.
“Let’s sit down and talk, Richard said.
After Rachel sat down, Richard asked earnestly, “Where have you been these past few days?”
Rachel pursed her lips, clearly not wanting to say much. ‘What difference would it make if Grandpa knew?” she thought
Over the years at the Zevon manor, her grandpa had indeed been good to her, but the things Andrew had done made her feel disgusted, and she didn’t want to set foot in the Zevon manor again. She had only come tonight because of Richard.
“Humph, where could she have gone? She must have been messing around with that shameless!” Andrew said.
Richard gave him a look, and Yedda, feeling scared, nestled into Andrew’s arms.

Andrew protected Yedda and accused Rachel, “You still know how to come back, huh?”
Rachel leaned back, having pretty much figured out what had happened.
Did that mysterious person act so fast? Rachel wondered to herself.
Just as she was feeling curious and anxious, she heard Yedda cooing to Richard, “Grandpa, I suspect Rachel is colluding with someone outside to rob the Zevon manor and take the opportunity to try to kill Andrew. You have to stand up for Andrew. Rachel has found a new support now and doesn’t even come home. A woman like her doesn’t deserve to be Andrew’s wife.”
“Someone, take Ms. Zorn home! Richard ignored her and issued the order to leave.
Seeing that her provocation wasn’t working. Yedda clung to Andrew’s hand and refused to leave. Andrew glared at the servants and sand. “Grandpa, Yedda is just worried about me. Why are you so cold to her? She’s much better than those people who scheme behind others
“First of all, I don’t know what despicable thing you did to get attacked in the middle of the night. Second, I did deal with Yedda, but i was just following your example. Why is it okay for you to send people to hurt me, but not for me to defend myself?” said Rachel

The fiery words made Richard realize that there was something the two of them were hiding from him. He immediately asked. “Rachel. did Andrew bully you?”
Rachel smiled faintly, ignoring Andrew’s warning look, and said. “He sent people to set fire to the house, almost burning Jennie and me

“Rachel, stop talking nonsense. I was just giving you a warning. Jennie wasn’t even home at the time, and you’re not hurt at all, are you?” Andrew said.
You good–for–nothing!” Richard was so angry that he raised his cane and hit Andrew, who was as thick–headed as a pig.
Yedda, feeling heartbroken, shielded Andrew and took the full force of the blows.
“Grandpa, how can this be Andrew’s fault? It’s all Rachel’s fault!” Yedda said.
“Shut up! Who do you think you are? Do you have any right to speak up in the Zevon manor? Someone, get this troublemaker out of here!” Richard said.
“Why should I leave? I’m not going anywhere, Andrew!” Yedda clung to the servant, holding onto Andrew and refusing to let go.
Now that Andrew was hurt, it was the perfect time for her to show her worth. She couldn’t let Rachel take this opportunity.
Andrew also felt he couldn’t let Yedda be driven out like this. He held onto Yedda tightly, and the two of them stood in front of him like a pair of ill–fated lovers. Rachel coldly watched the drama unfold.
“Cold–hearted!” Richard was so angry that he raised his cane and struck Andrew’s arm. Andrew winced in pain and had to let go.
“Let me tell you something. Stop scheming. The lady of the Zevon manor can only be Rachel. You, with your lowly behavior, will never set foot in this house as long as I’m alive!” Richard declared
After saying this, Richard lost his temper with the servant for the first time. “What are you waiting for? Get her out of here, and make sure she never steps foot in this house again!”
Once Yedda was gone, the atmosphere in the room turned cold instantly.
Andrew’s parents had passed away early, and his grandpa had endured the pain of outliving his own children. He had single–handedly managed the Zevon business and raised Andrew. Andrew almost never went against his grandpa’s wishes.
Over the years, everything in Andrew’s life had been carefully arranged by his grandpa, and he had followed the plan step by step until
now.
But now, he couldn’t hold back anymore. Especially today, seeing his grandpa show no mercy and drive Yedda out, he rebelled for the first time. “Grandpa, I don’t know why you’re treating Yedda like this. What’s wrong with her? Why do you look down on her so much?”
“Have you learned nothing at all all these years? Don’t think I don’t know what youve been up to, Richard said.
“I never planned to hide it from you. In my opinion, Yedda is better than some people. At least she’s devoted to me, unlike others who play around and scheme against me!”
“You little.
“Grandpa, It was me who proposed the divorce,” Rachel spoke up.
“See, thus the wife you picked for me. You heard her, right? She doesn’t want to be with me anymore. She’s the one who wants the
divorce.” Andrew said.
“Shut up!” After scolding his grandson, Richard asked Rachel kindly. “Rachel, this boy has lost his mind. Don’t take him seriously. I know you’ve been wronged. Tell me what happened, and 111 make it right for you.”
“No need, Grandpa. I know you care about me, but you can see it too. Andrew and I are just not right for each other. Forcing us together won’t end well,” Rachel said
“See, she said it herself. I’m not forcing her, Andrew said.

After all, in their family, marriage was all about matching social status. He was going to marry someone anyway, and since he had known Rachel for years, it wasn’t a complete stranger. Andrew didn’t hate Rachel, so he agreed to the marriage.
Now that Rachel seemed to have a change of heart, and his grandpa was still twisting the truth and blaming him, Andrew finally snapped.
“Silence? Grandpa, get your facts straight. I’m your real grandson. What’s so special about Rachel? The Sampson family has been down. and out for years. Yet you still spoil her. I don’t get it. What’s so great about her that you keep ignoring me, your own grandson? If you love her so much, why don’t you just adopt her as your granddaughter? I’m out of here, okay?” Andrew said.
