After they arrived at the airport, Rachel was surprised when Charles got out of the car with her. “What’s this about?”
Charles explained. “It just so happens that I have a business trip to Haloport tomorrow. Think of this as an early start.”
Rachel didn’t want to trouble him. “Mr. Lopez, honestly, I don’t want to bother you any further.” But Charles strode ahead without hesitation, leaving Rachel with no choice but to follow.
Once inside, Charles went straight to the check–in counter. He’d already bought the tickets while they were still in the car. They made a hasty decision and first–class seats were sold out, so they had to settle for economy class.
Even after boarding the plane, Rachel still felt guilty. Charles, however, acted like nothing had happened and opened his laptop to work On some unfinished files.
With the limited space in economy class, the 6–foot–1 man had to awkwardly bend his legs to pull out the tray table and work on his files. Rachel felt really sorry for that.
As a flight attendant passed by, Charles asked for earplugs and an eye mask. “Staying tense all the time isn’t good for you,” he said. Rachel obediently followed his advice, put on the earplugs and eye mask, turned her head, and fell asleep.
A three–hour flight wasn’t too long or too short. When they arrived in Haloport and stepped out, the warm breeze blew on Rachel, making her foggy mind feel a little clearer.
Rachel had come without any plans. It was still before dawn, and even finding a place to stay was an issue. Just as she pulled out her phone to book a hotel, a black MPV stopped right in front of her.

It was Rachel: first time in Haloport. After being led to the room by the hotel staff, she realized she hadn’t brought anything with her. She called the front desk, but the unfamiliar Cantish accent made her give up trying to communicate.

The sun was quite strong. Rachel sat on the swing for a while before getting up to head back to her room. As she walked past the pool. her foot slipped and she fell straight in.
The pool wasn’t very deep. Rachel flailed a bit before managing to stand up, the water reaching her chest. Just as she was about to climb put, she noticed her bracelet was missing
It was something Jennie had made during her craft class–a simple beaded bracelet. To others, it might seem worthless, but to Rachel, it was the only keepsake jennie had left her. Rachel dove underwater, carefully searching for it.
When Charles received no response after knocking on the door, he used a spare room key to enter. That was when he saw Rachel submerged in the pool, struggling in silence, unwilling to get out.

Charles hurried forward, quickly taking off his suit jacket, and jumped into the pool to pull Rachel, who was lying at the bottom, back to the surface.
“What are you thinking? If you want to die, don’t do it here!” he shouted grabbing Rachel by her neck to drag her toward the edge of the pool. Rachel stubbornly resisted, trying to push his hands off her.
Charles thought. Tve never met such a pathetic woman. At a time like this, she’s still doing something so foolish.
Ignoring Rachel’s resistance, he dragged her onto the edge of the pool. “Rachel, if you want to die, go somewhere far do it under my nose.”
