Chapter 23
Rachel rushed to the door. Jenny cautiously peered through the peephole and saw Mary, a woman in her fifties, standing outside.
Til handle this. Jenny said as she opened the door.
Mary frowned, her tone hostile.”
- “Get your guardian out here.”
Rachel had barely appeared when Mary started yelling, “What shady business have you done? Look at the mess in the hallway. Are you just going to leave it like this?”
Rachel stepped out, confused. As she saw the colorful paint splattered all over the stairs, the froze
“What the hell? Are those guys insane?” Jenny exclaimed.
“Well, your mom started this mess, Mary shot back, then she turned to Rachel, saying. “Young lady, how can you be so mean to bully a kid? Now, the video is everywhere, and it’s disturbing the neighbors. Clean up this mess, or you’ll regret it”
Without giving Rachel a chance to respond, Mary waddled away, her plump body swaying with anger.
Left with no choice, Rachel ordered some paint.
Not long after, the paint delivery guys called and asked her to pick it up.
As Rachel and Jenny went downstairs, they saw two young men in a pickup truck. When the guys spotted Rachel, they whispered to each other with smirks
As Rachel got closer, one of them rudely said, “I just wondered who ordered this much paint. Look who it is–Ms. Cocky”
“What nonsense are you talking about?” Rachel retorted.
The video online is pretty clear, the guy sneered. “Pretty face, but such a mean personality
The two guys unloaded the paint from their truck. 206 dollars. Pay up, no arguments”
Rachel paid without a word and carried the heavy paint cans back upstairs.
By the time she and Jenny finished cleaning up the graffiti and restoring the building’s white hallway walls, it was already eleven at night.
Jenny collapsed into Rachel’s arms, exhausted. “You’re too nice,” she mumbled. “None of this was even your fault, yet you’re the one suffering”
Rachel just smiled, wiping the grime from Jenny’s face and tucking her into bed.
The next day
day at noon, Rachel and Jenny were still asleep when they heard a loud banging on the door. They opened it and saw Mary
“What’s wrong with you? You seriously let the walls just look like this? You think I can’t deal with you?” Mary shouted,
Rachel looked at Mary groggily.
She had a pair of beautiful, doe–like eyes. When she smiled, they sparkled like a clear spring pool.
But when she wasn’t smiling, her brows furrowed, giving her a delicate and innocent appearance.
Especially now, after staying up late last night, she looked even more exhausted and weak.
Mary hesitated, feeling a twinge of sympathy. “What are you looking at? Hurry up and clean this up”
“Didn’t we clean it up yesterday Rachel was confused. She stepped outside and was shocked to see new blood–red graffiti and splattered paint all over the walls again. She froze in disbelief–how could this happen!
“Alright, since you’re awake, clean this up right now. I don’t want to have to come back here,” Mary insisted..
“Great, all our hard work from yesterday was for nothing Someone’s targeting you,” Jenny exclaimed, frustration bubbling over.

But Jenny couldn’t hold back her anger any longer and quickly called Charles.
Rachel didn’t get through. It seemed those two justice warriors” from yesterday had blocked her number.
Determined to get more paint, Rachel headed downstairs. But as soon as she reached the ground floor, she found herself surrounded by
a crowd.
“There she is. Everyone, take a look–this is the woman who dared to lay a hand on a live or six–year–old child at Disneyland. What a terrible person!” someone said.
Another taunted, “I heard you’re a top student. I wonder if your professor knows about this?”
Rachel covered her face, not wanting to engage. But the crowd didn’t let up, following her relentlessly.
Rachel originally planned to take the bus, but the crowd surrounded her, forcing her to speed up in hopes of shaking them off
“Running away? How could you! Do you know the little girl you bullied d is still in the hospital?” someone shouted.
Even the calmest person would feel upset being mobbed like this. Rachel stopped, looked at the self–righteous crowd, and said coldly. “Are you so sure the little girl is in the hospital because of me?”
“Didn’t you push her and cause her injury? Now you’re trying to deny it?” a man sneered,
Just then, a teenage boy, looking like a high school student, pulled a bottle of ink from his backpack. He uncapped it and marched. straight toward Rachel, his face twisted with anger. “You wicked woman bullied Yedda. I must teach you a lesson.”
Rachel, still surrounded, didn’t see him coming
Suddenly, a startled gasp rose from the crowd.
Before Rachel could react, she had been pulled into a broad chest.
Black ink splashed onto Charles’s back, slowly seeping down his thin shirt. The incident happened so quickly–although Charles shielded Rachel, he ended up with ink stains all over his neck and arms.
Rachel realized what had happened and looked at Charles with a mix of fear and gratitude. “You
“Are you okay?” Charles asked, concern in his voice.
Seeing Rachel nod, he let go of her. He ignored the mess on his body and positioned himself protectively in front of her.

The impulsive boy, facing the sharp glare from Charles, suddenly looked like he wanted to back away.
Before he could move, Eric stepped in and quickly restrained him.
“What are you doing? Let go of me!” the boy yelled.
“Let you go so you can keep bullying her?” Eric shot back.
The boy argued, “I didn’t bully her. She deserved it. She bullied Yedida and Tracy. She’s a bad woman!”
Charles and Rachel exchanged glances, a silent understanding passing between them.
“Whether she’s a bad person or not is for the police to decide. They’ll handle it, Eric said firmly.
“Hmph, you thank I’m scared of the police? I’m underage. Yedda told me that as long as it’s not serious, the cops won’t put me behind bars, the boy retorted.
So this reckless behavior is actually encouraged. Yedia would do anything to go against Rachel Charles thought.
He hadn’t encountered someone this bold like the boy in a long time. He turned to Rachel, letting her make the call.
Rachel knew from the start that someone was stirring things up behind the scenes to escalate the situation so quickly. But she hadn’t expected Yedda to be this foolish. Since the enemy had presented herself, why let her gof

Rachel leaned in and glanced at the boy’s school badge. “Alright then, no need to call the police Judging by your uniform, you’re in high school, right? We’ll just go to your school and have your teacher call your parents.
The boy’s eyes widened in panic. “What are you doing? Why are you going to our school? I’m not going”
Rachel shot a look at Eric, who then pushed the boy into the car. The boy kept struggling, but it was useless
Once they were in the car, Rachel turned to Eric and said, “Go to Jefferson High. Find Channing’s homeroom teacher.”
“How do you know my name? Channing, the boy, asked, his voice laced with panic.
Rachel’s gaze briefly rested on his clothes.
Channing immediately understood. He began apologizing and begging for forgiveness.
Rachel sat in the front seat calmly. She hadn’t glanced back even when the car stopped at the school.
Charles, as a lawyer, explained everything clearly to the homeroom teacher. The teacher quickly called Channing’s parents to come
