No One Can Hurt Ch 3

Chapter

Rachel gave a bitter, mocking smile, like she’d just heard the world’s cruelest joke

Why are you smiling?Andrew frowned. He had thought she’d fall into his arms after hearing what he said

Sign the papers. And don’t ever show up in front of me again,Rachel said, pulling her hand free from his grip. Because every time I see you, I just want to kill you.”

She pulled out her key and slid it into the lock, ready to go inside

But Andrew slammed the door shut with a loud bang

His eyes were cold as ice. Where’s Jennie? If you want a divorce, then why isn’t custody mentioned in the agreement? You’re not even asking for child support?”

Rachel stared at him, her eyes unreadable

Jennie’s dead. So there’s no custody to fight over.” Her voice was barely above a whisper. As for your money, I don’t want any of it. I just want this divorce done.”

Andrew’s face darkened. What do you mean?”

Rachel gave a chilling smile, her eyes sharp like blades. You remember that little box Tracy smashed? That was Jennie. Your daughter. Do you plan to give her a new grave?”

Rachel, I’m out of patience!Andrew shouted

She didn’t even flinch. Her voice stayed soft and nonchalant. Then get out of my way.”

Andrew’s temper flared as he grabbed her wrist, trying to drag her away. Rachel dodged fast, but she was already running low on strength

As he tried to pull her down the stairs, footsteps echoed from belowslow and steady

A tall man appeared in their line of sight. He was striking, dressed in a black suit that made him look sharp and elegant. His eyes were calm and cold, scanning them like he didn’t want to get involved

Rachel bit her lip. As she passed by him, she suddenly grabbed his sleeve and said, without hesitation, Help me. I don’t know this man.Rachel!Andrew growled. He glared at the man, then reached for her again

Rachel stared up at the man, desperation taking over. She could feel her strength slipping away, her hope fading

Just as she thought Andrew was going to take her away, the man spoke. Stop.”

He grabbed Rachel’s arm and turned to Andrew, flashing his phone. “The press will be here in three minutes. If I’m not mistaken, sir, you’ve got quite the connection with Ms. Zorn. His voice echoed through the stairwell, low and cold

Andrew’s eyes widened. He stared coldly at the man, realizing he’d been recognized

He had heard rumors online. If the media caught him here, he wouldn’t be able to hide his marriage from them, and Yedda would be labeled the homewrecker

With no other choice, Andrew turned and left

Rachel finally relaxed when she heard his car drive away. Her body almost gave out, but she still managed to whisper a thank you to the man beside her

He looked at her for a moment, his voice low, layered with something she couldn’t quite place. You don’t remember me?Rachel froze. She stared at him, trying to make sense of his faceand realized something about his eyes felt familiar. Sorry, my memory’s been a bit hazy lately,Rachel said

Jennie’s death had drained her of everything. She figured she must’ve met this man in passing when she first moved in

1/3

Seeing that she truly didn’t remember him, the manCharles Lopezlet his gaze darken

It’s fine. I’m not someone important,Charles said, glancing at her from under lowered lashes. But that Mr. Zevonhis identity is anything but ordinary. You’d do well to be careful.”

Rachel didn’t have the energy to wonder why he knew Andrew. She simply nodded in thanks and dragged her exhausted body back into her apartment

She leaned against the door, breathing heavily. A few seconds later, she heard the sound of another door closing across the hall

Then, her phone rang in her bag. When she pulled it out and saw the familiar number on the screen, her fingers trembled. She hesitated for a long time before pressing answer

Hello?she tried to steady her voicebut her eyes widened the moment she heard the voice on the other end

I’ll be right there,” she said quickly, then hung up and rushed downstairs to hail a cab to the hospital

Who told you to call her?Chloe, now awake in her hospital bed at Belgimia General Hospital, glared at Liam with fierce eyes. Go tell the nurse right nowI don’t want to see her when she gets here!”

So many years have passed. Maybe it’s time you two settled things,Liam said, ignoring her. He poured a glass of water and set it by her bedside

You really scared me today,” he said quietly. If something had happened, and that girl didn’t get to see you one last timehow do you think she’d carry that guilt?”

Chloe said nothing. Her lips trembled

She turned to stare out the window, eyes growing red as a storm of emotion swirled behind them. When her parents died, I tried to step in and help her. And what did I get in return?”

Chloe’s voice was shaking. She thought the Zevon family was full of saints? And how could she cut ties with me for a man? I taught her for over ten years. We were more like family than teacher and student. How could she do this?”

Rachel arrived at the hospital room door just in time to hear those words. Her heart twisted. Tears blurred her vision, falling freely down her face

It was her fault. If she hadn’t been so consumed by love back then, she wouldn’t have hurt her teacher Chloe like that. And maybe her daughter wouldn’t have died

Rachel had come here to see Chloe on a sudden impulse, but nownow she felt like all her courage had evaporated

She turned to leave, but ended up walking straight into someone’s chest

Careful! Hey, waitRachel?A familiar voice, dangerous and sharp, sounded right next to her ear

Rachel looked up and saw Andrew, dressed in a black suit, eyes cold and piercing as he stared her down. What are you doing here? Are you following me?he asked

He glanced around, not seeing any sign of Jennie, and instinctively furrowed his brows. Where’s Jennie? Are you two playing games again?”

Over the past few days, he’d had someone look into the supposed ashes storyonly to find that it had been completely fabricated

Now Rachel was here, seemed to be following him. That only made Andrew more certain: Jennie was fine. It was all just a performance -some twisted tactic she and her daughter were using to compete with Yedda and Tracy for his attention

Strangely, a part of him even felt smug. At least it proved Rachel still cared about him. That tough act she put on before? Clearly, it was all just for show

Get lost! I don’t have time for this.Rachel shoved Andrew aside and made for the elevator, but only managed a few steps before he grabbed her arm

What’s this about?Andrew frowned. I’m letting the whole stalking thing slide. And the gifts 1 prepared for Tracyyou could’ve just let Jennie pick out whatever she liked. She’s my daughter too. Can you stop being so petty?”

Rachel froze in place midstruggle. She looked at Andrew, eyes filled with disdain, but the pain inside her was so deep it nearly suffocated her

Jennie had never received a single gift from Andrew

Ever since Yedda returned with Tracy, Andrew had ordered countless presentssome of which accidentally ended up at their villa

Jennie had merely touched them out of curiosity when Andrew stormed in and scolded her harshly, shaming her. And now, he wanted to give Jennie the gifts Tracy didn’t want

Andrew,Rachel said coldly, my daughter doesn’t want things that others have already used. She thinks they’re dirty.”
