Chapter 8
Lisa’s status in the circle was not to be underestimated. Today’s gossip took center stage, and clearly. Yedda had offended her.
Yedda stepped forward to explain. “Mrs. Lane, I can explain.”
Lisa’s dismissive gaze swept over, making Yedda instantly hold her breath.
Those tricks and tactics might work on Andrew, but not on Lisa. They’re all smart people; no need to put on a show. Lisa saw through it but didn’t point it out. She just turned and left.
Yedda had no more mood to try to get close to Lisa, thinking, ‘Where did that reporter come from?‘
On the way back. Yedda complained bitterly to Andrew. “Andrew, you have to believe me. I don’t know that reporter at all. Maybe Rachel sent him. She’s been hiding all along, trying to make me leave you.”
“Maybe I should just leave. I’m only causing you trouble by staying here,” she said, squeezing out more tears.
Frank, the driver, had been with Andrew since he was little and was also a witness to Andrew and Rachel’s relationship. He inwardly despised Yedda for slandering Rachel, but his position kept him from saying anything.
Rachel had always been innocent and kind, and she knew how to deal with others. “Andrew used to like Rachel so much. Why did his attitude change completely after they got married?” Frank thought.
“Andrew, you have to stand up for me! Rachel slandered me. It’s obvious she was trying to embarrass you. She’s being way too over the top and not considering you at all,” Yedda continued.
Andrew took out his phone and scrolled to Rachel’s number. After a moment of silence, he looked up at Frank, who was driving, and said, “Call Rachel and tell her to go home. I’ll give her one last chance.”
Frank didn’t dare to say anything and quickly called Rachel, relaying Andrew’s words in a tactful manner.
Meanwhile, Rachel had just moved into her apartment. Her best friend, Natalie, seeing how thin and weak Rachel looked, decisively called a cleaning service to tidy up and dragged Rachel to a restaurant,
The hustle and bustle of the city is the most comforting thing. Sitting in the crowded hall of the restaurant, Rachel finally felt like she still had some strength in her.
But looking at the empty seat beside her, she couldn’t help but feel sad. In the past, Jennie would follow her around, but now…
Natalie opened a bottle of beer and placed it in front of her, saying, “I’ll keep you company tonight. Come on, let’s get wasted!”
After her phone rang, Rachel listened to what Frank said and replied coldly, “Got it.” Then she hung up abruptly and turned off her phone.
“That jerk still has the nerve to ask you to go back?” Natalie asked.
“The mysterious former actress’s husband has surfaced.” That was today’s trending topic.
‘Andrew must think I deliberately sent the reporter to make trouble for Yedda, Rachel thought.
As Rachel and Natalie walked back, drunk and tipsy, they saw Charles waiting with a look of having been there for a long time. Charles, with his suit hanging on his arm, had been waiting for four whole hours.
He had never been this patient before. Eric, his assistant, curiously looked outside but quickly shrank back when Charles’s gaze swept over him.
“What a coincidence, Mr. Lopez,” Rachel said.
“It’s not a coincidence. I was waiting for you,” Charles replied.
Seeing Charles’s serious expression, Rachel, though unsteady on her feet, knew she needed to take this seriously.
She loosened her grip, and Natalie started to fall backward. Frightened, Rachel quickly pulled Natalie back and asked, “What is it, Mr. Lopez?”

Rachel felt that it wasn’t a good time to chat.
“As long as the divorce case hasn’t started, you’re still Mrs. Zevon. Acting this way is really bad for your image,” Charles said.
After that, he gave her a look that said “behave yourself” and then left. Yes, he left.
Until he got into the car, Eric still couldn’t figure it out. Charles stayed up all night and waited at the entrance of the community for four hours just to say that? Why not make a call? Why not send a message?‘ he thought.
“Drive,” Charles said. He was annoyed for some reason.
Four hours. He was always punctual and had no patience for people who didn’t have a sense of time. But this time, he actually waited in silence for four hours.
If she hadn’t have any value to him, he wouldn’t have waste his time there, unless he was crazy. But in fact, Charles himself didn’t understand why he was so angry
Rachel was puzzled too. After putting Natalie to bed, she poured a glass of warm water and sat cross–legged on the sofa. Then she turned on her phone and saw that Charles had called her.
Are lawyers all so responsible these days?‘ she thought.
Early the next morning, Rachel took out the limited–edition dress from her wardrobe, picked the most expensive Himalaya crocodile leather bag, quickly got ready, and headed straight to the Zevon Group building.
I’m sorry, Mr. Zevon is busy. You can’t go in without an appointment,” the receptionist said. Apparently, she knew who Rachel was. It seemed someone was deliberately making things difficult for Rachel.
Rachel smiled and said, “Alright then, I’ll call my grandfather.” She took out her phone as she spoke.
Upon hearing the former chairman, the receptionist panicked and had no choice but to let her in.
Over the years, Andrew had been fully devoted to his work, and under his leadership, the business empire of the Zevon Group had expanded continuously.
Rachel, who was worried about him being too tired, had been here many times and knew the way. She walked straight to Andrew’s office.
“Dad, the bunny’s eyes are black,” Tracy said.
“Tracy, Dad’s working. You can’t be naughty,” Yedda said.
“No, I want a hug from Dad.” With that, Tracy snuggled into Andrew’s arms.
Andrew had no choice but to let Tracy stay in his arms while he continued with his work.
Rachel, standing at the door, pushed it open and took a photo when she saw the scene.
“Rachel, what are you doing here? What are you up to?” Yedda asked.
Andrew put Tracy down and looked at Rachel, reproachfully saying, “How did you get in here?”
Rachel waved the marriage certificate and said, “What do you think?”
“So you do know what your identity is! You don’t come home at night and now you don’t even care about Jennie. Rachel, do you even deserve to be a mother?” Andrew said.
“You said it like you’re a good father.” a deep voice came from outside.
Charles, with his exceptional demeanor, walked in and immediately caught the attention of the secretaries outside. He had deliberately left the door open, and now four secretaries were peering in.
“Mr. Zevon, during the marriage, as a husband, you openly had an affair, cohabited, and called Yedda your wife, which constitutes bigamy. Now, on behalf of my client, I will file a lawsuit against you,” Charles said, placing the lawsuit documents on the table.
Andrew glanced at them with disdain. “You? Who do you think you are? Do you know who I am? You dare to oppose me?” Andrew’s tone was domineering and full of hostility.

Charles’s cold gaze remained unchanged. Andrew’s words had no effect on him at all.
“Mr. Zevon, we are just here to inform you politely. As for the lawsuit, the law has clear provisions. There’s no need to elaborate further now, Charles said.
It was at this moment that Andrew realized something. ‘So it was you?‘ he thought to himself.
