Nathaniel’s expression darkened as he said, “She’s still a student, and since nothing’s happened yet, she won’t face any serious consequences.”
After all, Blair had not paid the guy, and the motorcyclist had not acted on her plan yet.
I nodded, wrapping my arms around his waist. “But I heard she’s been involved with drugs.”
Even if I did not push for her downfall, drug use would ruin her life once it got exposed.
“She’s digging her own grave,” Nathaniel commented coldly.
I returned to browsing on my phone. We had been discussing plans for our formal wedding ceremony recently.
I wanted to plan it myself, so I had been researching ideas lately. After finishing work, Nathaniel would sit beside me, wrapping his arm around me while we scrolled through inspiration together.
With the date set for next month, I began to worry. “But my belly is already so big. I’m afraid I won’t look good in a wedding dress.”
Nathaniel smiled. “I’ve already had two maternity wedding dresses custom–made for you. Don’t worry. You’ll look beautiful.”
Hearing that, I felt reassured. As for Blair, I did not know exactly how her story ended. One uneventful day, Tara came by and casually mentioned that Blair had been expelled from college.
As for her whereabouts after that, neither Tara nor I knew. Perhaps she was in rehab, or maybe she had run off with the drug dealers she had gotten involved with.
The night before the wedding, I received a text message from an unknown number.
“Do we still have a chance?”
I knew in a heartbeat it was from Shawn. He had been trying to contact me frequently during this time, telling me he regretted everything and explaining that he had only been with Blair to make me jealous.
However, that was not the case for me. I told him that I entered this marriage with Nathaniel with the plan to build a family and have children–I was never just playing around. He had betrayed me, so I had left him behind.
Looking at the message again, I replied calmly, “No.”
The clock struck midnight, and it was finally Wedding Day.”
wedding day. I picked up my phone and texted Nathaniel, “Happy”
