I didn’t participate in the parent–child event at all.
Rory and Chris accompanied Laura and completed all the games. They had come in first place in many of them as
well.
Laura was also smiling very happily as well. She was so close to Rory and Chris that even I began to be a little jealous.
Brenda seemed to be a little dissatisfied with the results today. She pointed at the certificates in Laura’s hands and began sobbing again.
James, being the loving father that he was, went to the teacher and asked if he could buy a certificate. 1
However, he returned empty–handed. He then began having ideas for the certificates that Laura had.
“Laura, can you give Brenda one of your certificates? I can give you some money and you can go buy some of your favorite toys later on.”
Laura wrapped her arms around Chris’s leg and began crying. “Uncle Chris, can you tell him to go away? I don’t like him.”
James was taken aback at first, but then he raised his hand and slapped Laura in the face.
“Who taught you to speak like that?”
